Sleeping eight guests and two pets, Woodmans Cottage is brilliant for that special family gathering or group of friends.

These delightful holiday cottages are set in the peaceful conservation village of Puncknowle, an AONB. The Jurassic Coast is just 1½ miles away with superb scenic walking, along with use of 4 acres of grounds and footpaths. Each cottage is finished to a high standard offering very comfortable holiday accommodation and is set in the same smart courtyard area as the owners’ homes. The ‘chocolate-box’ village of Burton Bradstock is 3 miles with a good small beach. Abbotsbury, along the coast, has its famous swannery and sub-tropical garden. Further east is the Victorian seaside town of Weymouth, with Blue Flag beach, sea fishing, windsurfing, Sealife Centre and two RSPB nature reserves. Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool are great places for a family day out. Dorchester, the county town also known as Thomas Hardy’s ‘Casterbridge’ is 30 minutes’ drive and has a lively weekly market and beautiful Maiden Castle. To the west is the market town of Bridport which was Thomas Hardy’s ‘Port Bredy’ and has the twice weekly market as featured in the popular TV programme River Cottage. The picturesque harbours of West Bay are a great place for fishing. Lyme Regis is an attractive seaside resort which enjoys a dramatic setting with high cliffs, landslips and handsome harbour, known as The Cobb. Both Lyme Regis and Charmouth are renowned for their prehistoric fossils which are displayed in the local museum and on sale in the fossil shops. Local pub serving good food 250 yards.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful area. The cottage is very spacious and very well equipped. We were made very welcome by the owner, Alan, who was extremely friendly and helpful. This is an ideal cottage for family and friends, and with its comfy feel, large lounge and kitchen would also make a great place to spend Christmas and new year. Highly recommended.

Very well equipped and presented cottage, very child friendly with stair gates top and bottom of stairs to contain our two year old granddaughter. Alan was very helpful. Good local pub 150 yards away. Convenient for Bridport, Lyme Regis and all the coastline. Will definitely return next year.

We loved our stay at the Woodmans cottage. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. Tesco deliver to the address so if like us, you don't fancy a trip to the shop then you can arrange a delivery. The cottage is large and comfortably fits 8. We read the other reviews before booking and thought it was going to be a bit isolated but we were pleasantly surprised. The cottage is in a beautiful village with a lovely pub who are family friendly and do great food. It also has a good play park which my son enjoyed. It is the perfect base for walking and there are circular routes from the village. It's also close to the beaches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book again if we are visiting the area.

Lovely Cottage and Pub near by. However there are no other amenities near by and you do have to drive to any other larger village or town.

The cottage provided everything we could have wished for our self catering family Christmas get together. Our dogs were provided for with an enclosed garden space. The concern regarding no WiFi not mentioned in the publicity proved unfounded as signals were obtainable, although somewhat weak. Indeed the signals were weak throughout the village. The owner was very welcoming ensuring that our needs were satisfied including providing plenty of wood for the wood burner in the lounge although the Central Heating was very efficient. Car parking was very convenient. All in all a stay to remember with great pleasure and the nearby Crown Inn added to this.
