The cottage was in a perfect location, just a short walk to the centre of Shanklin and peaceful. It was very well equipped - home from home! The property was well maintained overall and relatively clean. That said a few cobwebs, dust under the reclining furniture were visible and light fittings were not clean. A little disappointing so early in the season. Perhaps some feedback for the caretakers! However, that would not prevent us recommending the property to anyone visiting the island. It was spacious, great off road parking. The directions we received were helpful, however, it would be even better if they stated that the property was inside the grounds of Shanklin Manor and we really enjoyed our stay.

This property was lovely to stay at and I would return. We did have a problem with the saucepan handles being loose but one phone call to the caretaker and a brand new set were delivered. I would have scored 10s but for a couple of niggles like the lampshades having mold on them and the shower on the first floor being quite poor. As I said though they are only niggles and loved my stay here as the surroundings are lovely and quiet but a quick walk and you are in the center of Shanklin. The house is of a high standard with comfortable beds and settees, well appointed kitchen and nice bathrooms. I would definately recommend it.

Really impressed with the cleanliness of the property on arrival, it really felt like a home from home. There is a lovely view across parkland to wake up to, and it is only a short stroll into Shanklin if you fancy stretching your legs.

Very nice and quiet location, lovely surroundings great for Dogs, didn't have to deal with any roads for the morning walk fields on your doorstep. Easy walk the Beach took around 8 mins but very steep climb down steps to beach. I found the beds hard for me but that's me. We will be Staying again soon

On arrival the house appeared spacious & well laid out. However, the defects soon became apparent; the rug in the lounge was very badly stained & full of dog hairs. Clearly neither it nor the stair carpet had been vacuumed before our arrival. The microwave had been left in a dirty condition. Two light bulbs in the living area & an under unit light in the kitchen were not working; much of the crockery was chipped; there was no pot suitable for cooking potatoes/ pasta. There was no teapot or vegetable peeler & knives for food preparation were minimal. In the bathrooms metal holders, including those for the toilet brushes, were rusted and unpleasant and the garden was in need of weeding & tidying.

Picture of garden was slightly misleading and the washing machine broke but other that that thoroughly enjoyable and comfortabke

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are glad that you were comfortable and enjoyed the property. Unfortunately the washing machine did break down right at the end of your stay, but as you know, we did move heaven and earth to get the washing machine engineer out to fix the machine before you had to leave. Regarding the presentation of the garden, there was previously a few square feet of grass which was laid alongside a patio area. Unfortunately it was not possible to engage someone to cut this tiny area of grass on an economic basis, so we reluctantly had to have it paved over. Fortunately however the property fronts onto the Old Manor gardens which are extensive and so there is no shortage of grassed area at the property. On our next visit down we will endeavour to re-photograph the garden so that it is accurately presented on the website.

Although location lovely, there are several issues that need addressing at woodland view, we contacted landlords regarding dish washer not working and noted this had been a previous complaint however they did not return are call at any point during are stay, there is no grass in the garden and is in need of some TLC, the chain to the front door is broken and this has also been mentioned before, the sauce pan handles become very hot which is dangerous.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are really sorry to hear that you found some problems in the property. Unfortunately we as owners have no record of you ever contacting us about this issue and we have also contacted the local agents who said that they have no record either. We have an answering machine which also supplies a mobile phone number, and no calls were missed, or messages left about this issue. If we had received your message we would have responded immediately. It is regrettable that the cleaners did not pick up the note about the dishwasher being broken, however we have spoken to subsequent guests who said that the dishwasher was functioning okay. So perhaps the cleaners sorted out the issues during their weekly visit and did not feel it warranted further investigation. Notwithstanding this, we are arranging a service engineer to call to investigate this further to ensure that no future guests have this problem again. We take maintenance at the property seriously, however it is inevitable that from time to time, as with normal houses, various problems arise which are sometimes brought to our attention and sometimes not. Regarding saucepans, new pots and pans are being put into the property. However the existing ones were purchased just a few years ago in the UK and should be suitable for purpose. There are also various oven gloves and silicone heatproof mitts in place in the property.

At first glance the property seems clean. However the fridge and oven could do with a good clean. The washing up bowl was cracked and dirty, and we had to buy a new one, which we brought back home. The top shower room smelled of urine quite badly, seemed to be when we opened the window. No grass or flowers in the small garden, which could improve the experience. TV was a little flaky, and temperamental. Having said this, it is a lovely little cottage, but a little unloved.

Nice location but the place was not kept in a clean state,no light on upper stairs, food under single bed ,human hair in shower and in the double bed room ,plus the lower floor needs a deep clean, the windows do not close and the front door safety chain is Brocken ,as for the state of the rear garden for get it.

We had a problem. One of the beds collapsed, depositing the sleeper onto the floor. The local agents very quickly responded and after a second attempt, rectified the issue. This was upsetting, but I feel it could happen anywhere. It appeared to be mainly a design fault in the bed.
