A rurally placed cottage with spacious south facing garden room and splendid views to Scarfell Pike. Perfect location to ‘get away from it all’

In the heart of the Lake District National Park

Woodend is situated off the beaten track in an accessible but remote location high on Birker Fell. Set within a relatively quiet, unspoilt area of the Lake District National Park, 7 miles from the main coast road, local village shops and the nearest pub are 4 miles, smaller market towns are 8 miles and larger towns are 15 miles away. It is a short drive to the more populated areas of Windermere and Coniston. These unique, self-contained holiday properties (refs 26869 and 27804) are full of character and charm with fantastic views of Scafell Pike, Bow Fell and Crinkle Craggs. They are set within, though not part of, a working farm, and are therefore surrounded by farm animals. The School House (ref 26869) faces due south up the fell and offers detached ’studio accommodation’ and a spacious, south-facing conservatory/garden room (with an additional multi-fuel stove) and a private enclosed garden area. The Buttery (ref 27804) adjoins the barn and is completely self-contained with its own entrance and an enclosed private garden area. Woodend Cottages are just a short walk from Devoke Water and are situated 3 miles from both the Eskdale Valley and the Duddon Valley, conveniently located for Ulpha, Eskdale, Boot, Seathwaite and Broughton-in-Furness. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 3½ miles.

The perfect place if you require privacy and beauty. There are lovely walks close by. After seeing how busy other areas were we were both happy with our choice. We highly recommend staying here.

A great week at the School house. Warm, comfortable, dog friendly and in a lovely location. Amenities not too far away but would recommend taking a couple of days supplies with you until you get out and about. In a 'quiet' part of the Lakes but not far from main attractions of the area. The home purchased home produce is highly recommended too. Thoroughly enjoyed the week.

We had a lovely, peaceful week at the school house. The weather was great which always helps. The setting and views were perfect. The cottage is very cosy and finished to a high standard. We had everything we needed. The fresh flowers were a nice touch. Loved it, we will definitely return.

A superb cozy cottage in a quiet and beautiful location... It was very clean with lots of thoughtful touches like fluffy towels, some fuel to start you off in the stove, a blanket on the sofa and both a cafetiere and coffee machine. The conservatory is a really addition. We got the stove going and enjoyed a BBQ in the twilight. The BBQ is a great gas model which was very clean. The views are amazing and there are lovely walks locally and from the cottage. We also pre ordered some of the Artisan bread, eggs and pork products the owners can provide... Wow they were an amazing added touch. The flavor of the ham was amazing! We had anticipated a stone cottage may be chilly and packed slippers and warm comfy clothes for the evening... The stove and heaters ensured we were never cold but the slippers were very welcome on the stone floor!!!!! A fab spot.. I hope we get to come back!

Exactly what we wanted. Escape to remote lovely cottage. Cottage very clean, warm and secure. Hosts very good without being intrusive. Tried some local produce from farm which was good. Plenty of walks for dogs. No phone signal which suited us just fine. Cottage also had full sky HD package . Log burner in cottage and glasshouse. Overall cottage was well equipped and was great for break away from everything.
