Cottage very good with everything we needed.Down side was the cleaning, just felt it need a very good clean.Dishwasher was full of water, tea shirt left in downstairs loo, socks left in wardrobe and bottle of water, stairs needed a dust, round the cooker on the floor was very dirty.Outside when we arrived was a big dog poo!something the cleaners should of seen.I do think the owners should know the standard of cleaning that is done,as the cottage has been so well done.

The cottage was very clean and offered all the facilities we required. In addition, there was a large local map and walk suggestions which in our experience is often lacking at many cottages together with various board games to keep children and adults entertained.

Wood Cottage is Fab, so much room and got everything you could possibly need. Short cycle to local pub with friendly staff and locals. Lovely walk along canal to Whaley Bridge, where we got train to Manchester. Cottage was lovely and warm and very comfortable. We totally agree a extra shower would be really good. Lovely little secure garden and we made the most of sunny Oct and sat and relaxed. There was four adults and still plenty of room in house for more, a great family holiday house Thank You so much x

This cottage is spacious and has the ability to have two families in it but not be on top of each other. Facilities are fabulous and everything we would want for a stay. What would be the topping on the cake would be a skybox that you can bring your viewing card with you and access what you would normally at home, but not essential. Jacuzzi bath was fab after a long day in the Peaks. Our second and not last time to stay here. Thank you xxx

We would definitely stay again. The owner was extremely helpfull and friendly. The location is great for visiting the local attractions and the Navigation Inn is must for dog owners they have good food and even have a "dog menu". We had great visit.

Me and my partner, dogs stayed at wood cottage during the Christmas period. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, the master suite was lovely with its spa bath. The lower level had stone tile flooring making it easy to keep clean. There was a dining room with a large table and TV. The lounge was comfortable with plenty of space to relax and a real fire. The surrounding countryside was breathtaking with lovely views from the cottage and we was lucky enough to have snow. The surrounding area is ideal for dog walking. We had our Christmas dinner at the local pub,the Navigation Inn we found the landlord and landlady very hospitable, and we had a great time. We personally recommend the entry gate and garden be more secure to cater for smaller dogs, and a stairgate supplied or customers bring their own, to prevent dogs from going up stairs, which is what we did, also if possible get a stronger signal for the freeview for more channels. Landlord of the cottage was very helpful, he forwarded my wallet by special delivery at his own cost.We had a lovely time and would go and visit again we recommend wood cottage.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We really appreciate you taking the time to comment in depth. It’s great for other guests to see what people think of the cottage and the surrounding area. Regarding your specific points in turn – We have now had the garden fully enclosed where it was not, with stock fencing and wooden poles in keeping with the rest of the area, so it’s now small and dog friendly. However, I’m afraid the TV signal in the area is generally poor and the service is as good as it gets, there’s even a booster fitted to help which works well but there’s no way of increasing the channels.

We had an excellent weekend in the cottage and it was superb value for money. The house was very clean, homely, comfortable and perfect for what we needed. Great location and a lovely pub nearby. The only slight problem was the one shower between the 8 of us. If another shower could be installed in the other bathroom then it would be perfect. All in all a great cottage and a fantastic stay.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Your comments are greatly appreciated. Further to other similar comments, we are carefully considering the provision of a shower in the main bedroom’s en-suite bathroom. To keep the high specification in the bathroom however, this is not a small job as shower requires plumbing, and possibly electricity supply, with a quality shower screen means removing as well as renewing the large tiles in the room to keep the services concealed. We are therefore considering the solution properly prior to fit rather than do a faster but less than acceptable job.
