This modern end terrace cottage is set in the heart of St Just, only 0.75 miles from the coastal path and the stunning scenery at Cape Cornwall. It benefits from a private parking space which is a real bonus in St Just. Ideally located for exploring West Penwith, with its breathtaking coastline and pretty villages. Just 8 miles from Mousehole, the picturesque harbour village made famous by its Christmas lights. The stunning Sennen Cove, 4 miles, and 7 miles from the beach at Porthcurno. Within 0.75 miles is the 18-hole Cape Cornwall Golf Course. Shop, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

    A wonderful cottage a few minutes walk from the centre of St Just with all it's ameneties with a parking space! Ideally placed for all the attractions of West Cornwall. Can recomend The Star for its beer and the Kings Arms for it's excellent food and service. If you prefer fish and chips Jeremys is great. Further affield The Tinners at Zennor can be recomended. A very minor point is that the neighbours in the adjoining cottage are a tad noisy at weekends. It is a very comfortable cottage which we hope to stay in again in the near future.

    Lovely cottage, high class holiday cottage furnishings, but small rear yard not really suitable when staying with two dogs.

    Great location, clean and comfortable very spacious - home from home. All the board games and dvd's and other toys were and extras that we weren't expecting

    Very nice cottage that had all we needed Some lovely walks right on your doorstep and really enjoyed the food at the kings arms which is within walking distance Dogs loved their holiday too ,and we all hope to return again

    As a family we loved our stay. It is a beautiful cottage, situated in a great location and it was like going home from home. Would definitely recommend and already looking to book again

    The property was clean but felt very damp. No wifi upstairs. Poor mobile signal so good wifi should be available throughout the property. No information or fuel left for the log burner which looked unused! No dryer. Was advertised with dryer. Noisy neighbours. Banging and could hear their music very clearly through the wall. The use the stairs like a herd of elephants! No extractor fan in bathroom, it needs one desperately put in. Underfloor heating in bathroom does not work. As such the bathroom is very cold. The wardrobe in my bedroom I felt was unusable as smelt damp and musty, so I had to live out out my suitcase all week. I feel the freestanding wardrobes and chest of drawers need updating and in the meantime the cleaner should wipe them out and air them. I thought one towel and hand towel per person was a bit stingy especially as we had to use one in the bathroom as a hand towel. The furnishing of the property had quite a cheap feel. Bedroom curtains were very cheap and didn't keep sunlight out. The televisions are very small. Hard when you are used to so much bigger. It just didn't have a home from home feel. The sofa was also very narrow and you couldn't snuggle comfortably for a film. The information pack seemed quite dated and as its a dog friendly cottage I would have expected a whole section on dog friendly activities. The linen cupboard was locked. I felt that was pretty uptight. I think if you want a spare towel you should have one and it's not unreasonable to change sheets midweek. Nice touches was tea coffee and biscuits were left, a loo roll and some hand wash. The worst thing however, as a 6 bed cottage the immersion heater for a hot shower runs out during the second persons shower. I had to rinse the conditioner out my hair with freezing cold water! It's not acceptable and there should be an electric shower. They do not supply bath sheets and although they told us this before arrival, why not? After a cold shower they are needed! It all adds up and gives the property a real' cheap' feel, but it was not a cheap price! Nice cottage in a nice area and could be lovely if the owners spent some money on it.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to leave a review this year. We are really sorry that this family did not enjoy their stay at Willoughby but are disappointed to receive such a negative review that we feel is mostly unjustified and unfortunately contains a lot of inaccurate information. It is important to note that the guests did not contact us during their stay to let us know that they were having some problems. This is a shame because a lot of these issues seem to have been down to user error and we could have helped with that. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was and still is working fine. There are 2 switches, one on the wall and one on the controls themselves. Instructions are in the Visitor Information pack. During this stay, the hot water was being provided by the boiler and not the immersion heater. The timings are set to provide a tank of hot water in the morning and again in the early evening. There are instructions in the Visitor Information if more hot water is needed. Unless excessively long showers were being taken, it is unlikely that it would run out on the second shower. This comment is very similar to a previous review and I feel that it may have been influenced by that. The Wi-Fi works fine upstairs with both our laptops and telephones – I can only think that this was the fault of the guest’s equipment or was again influenced by a previous review. We don’t provide wood for the wood burner but this is readily available locally and I believe there is a business card in the Visitor Information for a supplier. The wood burner has been used, it is just kept clean. The cottage is not advertised as having a dryer and was not advertised as such when these guests made their booking. I am unable to comment on whether or not the neighbours were noisy during this stay but I apologise if this was the case. I know that they have children, so this probably accounts for the running up and down stairs. I will attempt to make contact with them and chat to them about this. I strongly disagree that the cottage feels and smells damp and there are many comments in the Visitors Book that reaffirm this. Coastal cottages are prone to damp and we successfully keep on top of this by ventilating the cottage regularly and using de-humidifiers. I am wondering whether the presence of de-humidifiers in each room has prompted this comment. It is fairly standard to supply 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel per person and this is what Visit England recommends. We do inform guests what is supplied to give them the opportunity to bring a bath sheet of their own if they wish. The reason we don’t supply bath sheets is that our laundry is done domestically and this would make it an unmanageable amount. The locked (laundry) cupboard also contains tools, DIY supplies and personal belongings. It is not usual to provide a change of linen for mid-week but if it was needed due to a spillage or accident, guests have the option of using the washing machine or calling us and we would be happy to arrange some clean bedding for them. The bathroom has a window which ventilates it far more effectively than an extractor fan – the evidence for this is that the bathroom is free from mould. We advise guests to open the window during or straight after showering. The cottage is advertised as having a 26” television. It is actually now a 32” television. There is a 19” television in one of the bedrooms, which isn’t advertised at all so I am surprised that this was such a disappointment. We provide several books on walks in the local area, ordnance survey maps, information on dog friendly beaches and contact details for the nearest vet. There is also a large selection of leaflets for local attractions, most of which state whether dogs are welcome. I have considered the comment regarding the Visitor Information needing a whole section on dog friendly activities and I am not sure what other information I could provide that would help people to entertain their dog but I will continue to give this some thought. The information pack is updated annually – the last time was in June 2015. With regard to the comments describing the furniture as cheap, while I largely disagree with this, I have taken it on board and will discuss it with our inspector when the cottage is inspected against Visit England standards in January.
