Description

Relax amid spectacular and dramatic scenery in this unspoilt part of Northumberland in this former shepherd’s cottage filled with character.

Rowan Cottage is ideal for relaxing in front of the multi-fuel burner and watching the wildlife on the live feed to the cottage. Relax amid spectacular and dramatic scenery in this gloriously unspoilt part of Northumberland. Lying within the Northumberland National Park and enjoying panoramic views over Whitelee Fell National Nature Reserve, the cottages are former shepherd’s cottages on the owner’s sheep farm, renovated to a very good standard and retaining lots of character. Oak Cottage and Birch Cottage have beamed living room ceilings and all three have inglenook fireplaces with multi-fuel stoves for a warm and cosy atmosphere as well as power showers in the bathroom. There are wildlife cameras which feed live pictures direct to the flatscreen TV in each cottage, so you can watch barn owls, badgers and other wildlife. The area is rich in wildlife and ideal for walkers. Whitelee Farm is an idyllic base for exploring the Roman wall, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle, Kielder Forest Park and the Scottish borders. Newcastle and Edinburgh are within an easy drive. Shopping in Otterburn and Jedburgh, both 15 minutes away.
Rowan Cottage can be booked together with Birch Cottage (15841) and Oak Cottage (16498) to accommodate up to 13 people.

Very comfortable and suitable apart from very limited garden for dogs first thing in the morning or last thing at night, but acceptable and secure.

The countryside was stunning with great walks and plentiful wildlife. However the cottage suffered from appalling dampness with some mould. Minimal water pressure for our shower. Nice enclosed garden.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner- I enjoyed meeting you, your wife and your 4 legged family, Sidney, Larry and Doris. We had a long enjoyable chat at the time you left therefore it was especially surprising and upsetting to have seen your comments about the cottage. Neither of you mentioned any problems, if you had we would have done our utmost to rectify them.
