The Tissington Cycle Trail is just 120 yards from this former barn, with walks along Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale nearby.

This spacious former barn has been sympathetically converted to provide the ideal holiday accommodation for the larger family group. No longer a working farm, and attached to the owners’ own home, Whitehouse Farm enjoys beautiful views across the Dales. Heathcote is a quiet hamlet, just one and quarter miles from the popular village of Hartington with its pretty village pond and famed cheese shop, as well as walks along Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale alongside the River Dove. Tissington Cycle Trail is just 120 yards, and there is a wealth of fine scenery, historic houses such as Chatsworth, Haddon House and Hardwick Hall. Livelier is Matlock Bath with its cable cars, Gullivers Kingdom and Alton Towers, whilst the attractive spa town of Buxton and market town of Bakewell are all within a 25 minute drive. Whitehouse Farm is the ideal base to visit all the attractions the Peak District National Park has to offer for all ages. Groceries can be delivered on request. Shops 1¼ miles, pub ¾ mile.

The barn was well located and really well stocked with everything you could possibly want. The only negative was the mattresses were uncomfortable (most of them - only one couple slept well all weekend).

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Whitehouse Farm Barn recently. We were perplexed to hear that you found the beds uncomfortable as we have never had that feedback before and if anything, guests tell us how comfortable they have been and no-one that weekend mentioned the issue. We are looking into how to rectify the issue if there is one. Thanks for your feedback.

It's a beautiful place in a idyllic setting. We all had a great time and have discussed coming back again. The down sides was the cleanliness unfortunately. There were quite a lot of spiders and webs in the rooms, as well as crumbs and dirt around and under the sofas. We had to do a clean around when we first arrived which was disappointing. However the owners were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The hot tub was glorious and the views from it just beautiful. Thank you 😊

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. Please be reassured that cleanliness is not an issue. This talk of spiders is similar to country people taking a city break and complaining about noise from cars - we get spiders and at the time of this visit, Mr Spider was probably looking for Mrs Spider - it happens in the countryside! The sofas are one large 14 seat corner unit of heavy leather settees which link together. We pull all 14 apart each month to clean underneath and unfortunately this group, in undertaking the clean themselves, broke one of the cables for the recliner. I would prefer guests to enjoy the fabulous countryside and ample facilities our lovely barn provides.

We enjoyed our break at Whitehouse Farm. We felt isolated with no landline or mobile telephone connection which could have been a problem in an emergency. A list of local eating places would have been helpful as would instructions on how to use the kitchen equipment. The hot tub was a great success, and the cottage was comfortable and well equipped.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Whitehouse Farm Barn. Most mobiles do work at the property and the house book clearly says that our landline is available next door if needed. There is a folder with a list of all local pubs and restaurants including menus. We have never had guests before who could not understand how to use the kitchen equipment and we live next door and are always happy to help. The house book is there to aid guests during their stay and is left on the coffee table in the lounge. I do not feel it is necessary to read the information to guests. Feedback both good and bad is always useful but incorrect feedback seems pointless.

Great place to stay we had a brilliant time in the hot tub & the house was clean. It is pretty remote but that is what we were after. My only criticism would be to provide a working tin opener as the one there didn't work but that was a minor detail and the kitchen was generally well equipt.

Richard was very helpful and we had a fabulous weekend, the barn is comfortable however we felt it would benefit from a few changes such as softer lighting in lounge, the lighting was too bright and didn't give a cosy feel. We also felt like the hot tub position wasn't ideal for a rental as it was right in front of Richards house and not close enough to the barn. Thus said, we had a great time and Richard was very helpful.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your feedback which is always useful. The improved lighting in the lounge was as a direct feedback from customers who said it was a bit dark. It is difficult to get the lighting right in an old property with small windows but all lights can be individually switched off as required. The hot tub is where it is to enjoy the fabulous views fully. It is not in front of my house but in an area of seating designed for guests to fully enjoy the views. I could have put the hot tub nearer to the barn but that would have given it no views apart from the sheds!
