This cottage is situated in the perfect location from which to explore the New Forest, which is only 3 miles away.

Conveniently located just 3 miles from the New Forest National Park, these two converted holiday cottages adjoin each other. The properties are next to the popular village pub, The Compasses Inn, which is over 400 years old and provides a popular, historic meeting place/restaurant which serves fine food with a dining conservatory and a lovely garden. A cozy cottage in a beautiful area with the great pub The Compasses next to it. The cottage is well equipped and makes a great base for any holiday in the New Forest. It is dog friendly and the cricket ground makes a lovely area for exercise. The only slight fault if any is the main bedroom has the bathroom off it so anyone sleeping upstairs would need to come through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom but it was no problem for us as the children slept upstairs. The upstairs bedroom sleeps three and is ideal for kids, it has no door as it's open plan, they loved it. We would definitely come back again.

Stayed here before in the adjoining property, very good location and quiet with a community feel. Pub on grounds is very welcoming. Met all our needs.

Disappointed with the cottage whist in a great location failed to live up to expectations. The living room floor had not been swept, there was no 'outside' private garden and the front door opened onto the pub carpark and no rear garden. No wifi and no freezer compartment. Parking could be difficult at busy times and 'Bob' the builder started work at 7.30 am which woke us up.

Great location for exploring the New Forest and the surrounding area. The Comasses also provide great food at a reasonable price within walking distance

The cottage was comfortable, welcomed dogs and had all the essentials you would expect. The lounge area was quite small and gloomy and WIFI was non-existent within the accommodation but, on the whole, it was fine. The pub had a nice garden and there was a cricket green/dog walking area behind the cottage making it perfect for walking the dogs in the mornings. The interior of the pub was a little stark, ran out of Sunday roast and didn't serve food at all on Sunday evening so be prepared!

The cottage is ok, a bit cramped and a deep clean is needed. Some utensils need replacing. It's a bit dark inside.

The cottage itself was nice enough, three single beds in a roomy upstairs roof-space, a downstairs double, with it's on-suite being the only bathroom didn't cause us a problem with my wife and I only having one eight year old child who didn't need to get up in the night. The sitting/dining area would be a bit cramped for five. Kitchen was equipped with all the utensils etc. that we needed, though we only cooked breakfast during our 3 night stay. The advertised WiFi was non existent which was a bit of a pain as we were relying on this for our evenings in after a days walking. No mobile phone reception either. WiFi in the pub was intermittent too. Bring DVD's if standard TV channels are not enough for you.

Lovely cottage. Handy location. Beds all a little on the squishy side but that's more personal preference. Well equipped kitchen. Pub next door isn't rowdy and the food and drinks selection is excellent. Village not walking distance from any shops but Fordingbridge is only a short drive away.

We had a really great week. The cottage was fine with four of us and two dogs. We all enjoyed being without phones and tablets! A super cottage with a handy field behind to exercise the dogs. Would recommend this cottage and we will be looking to book again soon.

A comfortable and cosy holiday let. Owners and staff at the Inn very friendly and helpful, but not obtrusive. However, parking is in the inn car park and is not reserved which can be a problem if you return at busy times. Wi fi is only avaliable in the Inn, and hence only during opening times. Accommodation is fine for a couple, but we think it would be a bit tight for 5.

The cottage was warm and cosy. The pub next door was extremely friendly and the food was very good. We actually booked the following week whilst there, so we had two week instead of one. Would definitely go back again.

This was smaller than expected ,especially for the price, and definitely NOT suitable for young children. You have to go through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom/toilet . The kitchen is neat and well equipped but is so small there's no room to store any food !! The upstairs bedroom was literally 3 single beds on a mezzanine floor, the only storage was a small clothes rail . Despite the write up saying there was wifi this is not the case - not even a phone signal ! If you want to use wifi you have to go across the car park into the pub . If you stood in the carpark you could get a signal but this is obviously far from ideal! Our kids are 11 &9 and they coped ok but small kids or a family with mixed teens would have had problems I think . The location was abit too far away from things for us but this would suit a couple, or a few friends with dogs who enjoy country walks, if using this for a base to explore the area you seem to be about an hours drive from anything ! Had this just been a get away for my wife and I it would have been great as it's very peaceful and the staff at the pub are very friendly and welcoming ( they do a lovely pint of cider too ) .we didn't try the food , the menu looked lovely , but pricey for a pub - could have easily spent £75 on lunch for 4 !! Overall nice little cottage if you like long country walks with the dog and want to get away from everything , but too small, too far away from things ,and overpriced for what it is . 5 out of 10 :-(

Great location for all the places we wanted to visit in the area. Ideal cottage for 2 people with 2 dogs. The dogs loved the cricket field and we loved the Compasses Inn pub. Although there were three beds upstairs I wouldn't have wanted anymore people with us as downstairs would have become crowded and there is only one downstairs en-suite bathroom. Sofa wasn't the most comfortable either. All the benefits outweigh the negatives however. Would definitely make a return visit.
