Wheelwright's Cottage is a peaceful haven in the lovely village of Rumburgh. Locals (and our hosts next door) are extremely friendly and the pub Rumburgh Buck is well worth a visit. We were made most welcome. The cottage itself was full of character and had everything possible for a comfortable stay. The bottle of wine, loaf of bread, flapjack and whole milk were much appreciated as the welcome pack, and we knew we had made the right choice. We would definitely return.

This is a very nice cottage,in a peaceful location that has been decorated, equiped and maintained to a high standard. It is warm, cosy and welcoming even in the worst weather conditions . The facilities are excellent and the owners are helpful plus there are some nice touches including a welcome pack of basic of provisions and a bottle of wine. We throughly enjoyed a relaxing week as did our Boxer who appreciated the secure space at the front and rear of the property. There are lots of places in the area to visit and the coast only 8 miles away at Southwold .

We enjoyed a restful week at Wheelwright's Cottage. The cottage itself has been so well restored and fitted out that we loved staying there with our elderly dog. The furniture and fittings are of a high standard, as are the plumbing and heating. The owners had also put a lot of thought and effort into dressing the rooms. We felt at home immediately and were very pleased to find such a gem only 1 hour away from home! As usual, I'd been over-ambitious when planning where to go and what to do. There are so many lovely places within quick and easy reach along the coast that we only got halfway down the list. That gives us a good excuse for visiting Suffolk again soon.

The picture of the cottage is misleading, as the grounds were overgrown and did not give a welcoming impression. The interior was clean, but the lounge settees where very uncomfortable. It should be pointed out that there is no village as such as the Pub and Store were shut down.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are disappointed to receive this negative review. We are proud that we receive consistently good ones and would like to clarify some points for future guests. Our village is extremely friendly with a good pub (the Rumburgh Buck) just walking distance away. As advertised, the nearest shops are 4 miles away, in Halesworth. There has never been a village shop. The pub is open as it always has been. The lounge settees are smart, clean and are not quite 4 years old. We live next door to the cottage and if anything is not to your satisfaction, we are always happy to do anything we can to make your stay more comfortable. Please let us know at the time. The grounds / garden are a little different from the pictures but this is due to us making improvements this year. We have had extensive work carried out to completely level the front, create a permanent parking area and path up to the cottage. We have had to reseed and have been allowing the grass to grow. The shrubs at the back have grown since the pictures were taken but there is still the same enclosed shingle seating area. Our garden next door, completely separate from the cottage, is a work in progress. It does not look as smart as we would like but we have worked on the holiday cottage first. We aim to have our garden reseeded and our path laid by May 2016 - we apologise that this appeared to impact on a guest's holiday.
