Hidden away, close to the Whitfield Estate, West Steel boasts fabulous views and top class facilities throughout. Perfect for guests who enjoy a walking, rambling or cycling holiday, there are many established public footpaths, bridleways and cycle paths that cross through the owner’s grounds and out through unspoilt Northumberland countryside. The most magical place for nature lovers and bird watchers, guests will find themselves surrounded by flora and fauna. Buzzards and lapwings can often be seen in the garden, as well as the chickens that live on-site. Guests will often be treated to the site of a wild deer springing through the grounds, as well as hares, rabbits and much more. With the picturesque village of Whitfield just over 3 miles away, guests will be able to take a riverside walk along the banks of the River Allen, or enjoy a meal in the local pub a few of miles away. The small town of Haydon Bridge offers a small supermarket and more places to enjoy a meal and a drink, and is just 7 miles away. The historic Military Road and Hadrian’s Wall are both only a short drive away. Take the time to walk along this famous wall as well as visiting Vindolanda, Chesters Roman Fort and Housesteads. The bustling Northumberland market town of Hexham is nearby where you will be able to enjoy a whole host of amenities, including a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants and the famous Hexham racecourse.
West Steel is also the perfect base for guests wanting to explore the neighbouring counties of Cumbria and County Durham. The Lake District and North Pennines are also easily accessible from the property. For families who enjoy the seaside, the Northumberland Heritage Coast is within easy driving distance and offers guests the chance to enjoy the golden, unspoilt beaches of the area. There is also the chance to explore castles or take a short trip across the water to Holy Island, where a trip across the causeway leads guests to legendary Lindisfarne, which is steeped in history. Other popular Northumberland towns include Bamburgh and Alnwick with its famous National Trust properties and gardens, which can be reached in just over an hour. The city of Newcastle can be reached within a 40-minute drive, and is the perfect place for a day’s shopping. With so much to see and do nearby, and with great transport links from every direction, West Steel is a fabulous location.
This beautiful detached home has been thoughtfully furnished throughout. There is also a separate family bathroom making this such a great choice for larger groups travelling together.     Luxurious cottage perfect for larger groups. Lots of lovely touches, welcome pack including free range eggs from the hens, toiletries in all rooms with tweezers and nail cutters, snuggly bathrobes. Quiet location in the heart of the countryside with walks and wildlife on the doorstep.
