This holiday property is located just a 10-minute walk to the fabulous little beach at Hope Cove. This first floor apartment is light, bright and airy with sea views from the living room and twin bedroom, and rolling field views to the front. It is the perfect location for families with young children wanting a seaside holiday, or for couples looking for a quiet getaway in an iconic seaside village location. Hope Cove is a pretty old fishing village, with a little shop and pub, just 4 miles away from Salcombe. The South West Coastal Path is close by, a walker’s paradise. Beach 500 yards. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

    Very poor, when one has been on a journey one would expect some teabags, coffee, sugar and milk, there also wasn't any salt and pepper, these items being essentials. There was no bathmat to step onto after a bath/shower and no rubber slip mat in the bath/shower itself, which should be provided for safety reasons. The metal stair case to the apartment was dangerous when wet and the outside light was on a timer so when you come in the dark it was dangerous, there was even a torch in the property. The carpets under the beds obviously had not been cleaned for some time and same with behind furniture, the skirting boards were thick dust, needless to say we will not be returning to this property and certainly would not recommend it to anyone else.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; The property is professionally cleaned, and the cleaners leave full contact details, I am not aware that they were contacted nor do I agree the property was thick with dust or not clean. We provide a rubber bath mat but find it is never used and guests place it in the bathroom cupboard. We do not provide tea, sugar or coffee apart from start of the season as find guests bring their own preferences and vast majority leave unused items for the next guest. There are shops open late within a few miles. It is impossible to have non slip metal steps but there are two handrails and steps are due for professional repainting together with all the complex at present. The property is as described by the agents and up to date photographs and late in the year the weather can be inclement.

    Lovely area could not fault the village and local pub and restaurants. The property was a good size with great views. However it was a bit shabby and not as clean as it could be. The beds were really awful with very cheap and uncomfortable mattresses.

The property is thoroughly and professionally cleaned prior to each guest’s arrival. Beds are a subjective matter, but we always try to go for a happy medium that we hope will suit everybody. We are sorry that this guests expectations were not met on this occasion, we do not proclaim to be a 5 star luxury property but a 3 star seaside holiday base, which we believe is good value for money as reflected in other feedback.

    The west facing windows did not close properly, letting a strong draught from the west wind through the flat, it was a bit cold, heating would not really address that, due to the amount of air coming through. Other than that, it was very good!

    Overall we were very impressed with the apartment - the location was even better than we had hoped and the views from the living room were beautiful. The kitchen was very well stocked and made good use of the space - I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of a fridge freezer as nothing was mentioned on the website so it would be useful to know it was a fridge with ice box. It was very well stocked with equipment, the only thing we could have done with more of was eggcups as there were only 2. Also, there were lots of things in the cupboards that I can't imagine using (e.g. a very large casserole dish and gravy jugs) that took up a lot of cupboard space, so there wasn't that much room for our food. The bins were very full and smelly so we couldn't put out our rubbish until they were emptied on Wednesday. They were almost full when we left so there don't seem to be enough bins for all the apartments. An airer to hang clothes/towels on would be very useful, especially for a week of lovely weather like we've had as we were at the beach every day. The last comment is regarding Wi-Fi. We are both with EE and couldn't get any mobile signal so without Wi-Fi we were very cut off. Although this was good to be able to totally relax, it made checking tide times and booking restaurants very difficult so Wi-Fi would have been very useful. Overall we had a lovely week and would definitely recommend West Park to friends and will consider coming back in the future.

    On arrival the accommodation was found by ourselves not to have been cleaned and bed linning and towels not changed. Once communication could be established the property was cleaned but there were still areas that had not been cleaned (I did not go on holiday to end up cleaning a bath before we could use it), plus one window in the lounge has not been fitted correctly and lets in wind and rain. The outside of the property has wrought iron steps upto that are not of a good appearance and the outside door to the flat needs a good clean and the tatty welcome mat replaced. The actual Hope Cove area is nice and there is the beach and pub within walking distance.

Due to an unexpected problem the property was cleaned late and a contribution of £50 made for you to have a meal whilst this was done..The whole exterior of the block is due for painting by the management company this autumn including the steps We agree about Hope Cove and the property represents good value for money in our view, it is not a 5 star rental price and is as per the photos on the web site.

    Very well equipped apartment except could do with an washing airer to put damp clothes and beach towels on. Also because of the sloping roof you can't get out of left side of double bed without fear of bumping your head. Also there is no convenient area to sit outside. Hope Cove is a beautiful place and will definitely be coming back soon
