Major problems with damp (and we were there in summer at the end of June). In general the chalet is clean, but it is damp, and smells of damp. We had to wash many clean items when we got home due to them becoming tainted with the damp smell, and dispose of 2 pillows that we had taken with us. 30 x uneven concrete steps must be negotiated to get to the chalet. Very uncomfortable 'sofa'. Couldn't use the freezer compartment of the fridge, as the position didn't allow for the opening of the freezer door. The supplied coffee maker (a stove top 'moka pot') has a badly damaged seal so we decided not to risk using it. The door to the bathroom is very narrow, so you have to turn sideways to get in, and then the bathroom itself is dangerous when wet and there is no visible warning of the small step between the 2 levels - a trip hazard as I found out. The toilet is very close to the bed, and the door is very thin, so it can be embarrassing using the toilet at night. I could NOT in all conscience recommend this chalet to anyone. We spent as little time there as we could as the damp, and damp smell, were so depressing.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that these guests did not enjoy their stay. Although they stayed in June, it has been an exceptionally wet year on the Island until very recently, with the heavy rain and warmth causing high levels of humidity. Apart from this, this is a coastal property, subject to sea mists and moist air blowing in from the English Channel and when this happens, the property can feel moist, so a dehumidifier is provided for guests' comfort. There are also 3 sources of heating in the chalet. We have now provided a new cafetiere for guests. There was a black/yellow warning strip in the bathroom to warn of the small step - this has apparently been removed and we have now replaced it with a new one. Thank you for bringing these matters, which we have immediately addressed, to our attention.

The Cottage was clean and well equipped but it was very small and rather cramped. There were clearly issues with damp in the bedroom and the bedding felt damp. The bed was also far from the most comfortable we have ever used.

We had a lovely weekend in this cosy chalet style cottage. There was a short power cut on our first night but we stayed warm under the blankets provide and were kept well informed of the situation. The location was perfect for walking and exploring the island. The view over the trees to the sea was lovely even when the weather was not very kind. If you are intending doing most of your own cooking I would recommend taking a decent non stick frying pan and a casserole dish, otherwise a well equipped kitchen.

Lovely cosy little cottage in a great location. Great pub walking distance with good food and live music. Plenty of lovely walks. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

We had a very nice week at the Coastal Path Cottage. It was very comfortable and clean and in a lovely quiet position very suitable for a relaxing holiday. It is also close to many attractions and amenities.

The cottage was well appointed in a very nice location, unfortunately I would like to have seen it cleaned better, ie windows and mirrors needed cleaning, window sills, door frames, skirting boards, furniture needed to be moved to clean in corners etc.
