The property was well equipped and was in a fantastic location for a peaceful night's sleep. We stayed over for two nights for the Brighton Marathon weekend, and the owner was very kind in knowing how my brother (who ran it) did, which was lovely (FYI - he nailed it). The beds are lovely and comfortable, and the bedrooms are a good size. Best shower I've ever used, so much power if not a little noisy with the drainage plug (this is not a problem, but I did think I had broken something!). Kitchen is well equipped, and the garden (although we didn't venture out) was lovely. Again, the location is just lovely. Have I said lovely enough? Only a few concerns. The owner did assume I had already left on the morning of departure (I'd come by train so no car for evidence) and so had started to clean the cottage whilst I was just waking up. This was a little awkward! She also entered the property on the first day, which was also a little strange but luckily my brother's girlfriend was doing some teaching prep and queried her entry. The property does not advertise that you can't be in the cottage during the day, but there are notes in the bedrooms to say you must vacate by 10.30am but you can return by 4pm. I thought this must have been a mistake, as it's strange for a cottage to have similar rules to a hotel! Property does advertise WIFI, and we guessed the password which worked (I'm sure the owner would give it to you if requested but we didn't want to disturb). WIFI doesn't reach as far as the bedrooms, so no netflix 'n' chill in bed unfortunately. No information pack or anything within the cottage, which again is not of the norm but once we had internet we worked out any details that we needed. The property is advertised for 3 people, but there's only one small sofa which was not particularly comfortable. Kitchen is small, but well equiped and ideal for the size of property. No one is likely to be feeding the 5000 in there, so it's fine. Overall, a lovely stay in a great location. Some finer details need to be ironed out, but overall fine.

Warm welcome, clean, comfortable and fairly well equipped. All on one level. Large shower in bathroom - would be suited for someone with reduced mobility. We enjoyed our time here.

Very peaceful location, ideal for places of interest in East and West Sussex. The accommodation was lovely and warm, beds very comfortable. We found the kitchen was a little small to cook in. The garden would have been great to enjoy if we had visited in the summer. Decor could do with updating in places.

Wellhouse Retreat was ideal for our visit. Very quiet location. Good welcome pack and owners very helpful. Lounge seating could be a little more comfortable. Bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen were great. Would definitely go back.

This was a great cottage in a lovely quiet location with good access for the less mobile of us. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

We were disappointed in this stay. Bedrooms were 'okay' but not great. Second bedroom no remote for tv so couldn't use. Way too few hangers. Felt old and tired. Lounge/diner the sofa was the most uncomfortable we have ever encountered. Looked over owners garden so had to have blinds down for privacy. No wifi despite advertised. Kitchen lacking some basics. No frying pan!! Owner went in apparently while we were out. That's an absolute no no! It could be a lovely place but needs bringing up to standard. Was advertised as four star but rating was reduced between booking and arrival and no reduction offered. Well over priced for what was offered.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. On arrival I explain to my guests that if they have a problem or find anything missing, to knock on my door and I will do my utmost to sort things out. I would also like to confirm that I do not enter the property whist guests are staying, unless purposely invited. The sofas are handmade but I have had the seat cushions re filled with dunlopillo, as was suggested by the upholsterer. The remainder of the sofas will be refurbished shortly.
