Description

Well Cottage is a charming property as it sits above Castle Combe and offers a romantic getaway or even a family retreat.

This charming 16th century cottage hides a contemporary interior, that complements the original beams and inglenook fireplace. Located down a tranquil private country lane, Well Cottage is perfect for that romantic retreat or family break.
The beamed living room has large comfortable sofas, mountains of cushions to snuggle down in front of the large wood burning stove in original stone inglenook fireplace. It is the perfect place to relax of an evening cosy and warm, to watch the flat screen TV, or enjoy a quiet morning coffee.
The country kitchen with its beams, stone floor and exposed brick is ideal for enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the farmhouse table. Or a convivial evening meal with family discussing the events of the day, and planning for tomorrow.
Take the traditional narrow, turning stairs to the first floor, where you will find the lovely peaceful bedrooms. Both have iron bedsteads in keeping with the character of the cottage, and both have beams and sloping ceilings. Well-appointed with generous duvets, fluffy pillows and immaculate linen they are just what the doctor ordered for a good night sleep.
Relax in the large enclosed garden with its original covered well, and soak up the sun, while enjoying a well-deserved drink at the end of the day. Or for walking enthusiasts, take the footpath from the door to the heart of Castle Combe with its typical honey coloured Cotswolds houses. Golf and horse riding nearby, and there is a country hotel for bar and meals within 2 to 3 minute walk. Shop ½ mile.

Two steps to entrance. Beamed living room with wood-burning stove in inglenook and sofa-bed (for +2). Large kitchen/dining area with tiled floor. First floor: Two double bedrooms, each with iron bedstead and beamed, sloping ceilings, one with small step to entrance. Bathroom with shower attachment. Shower room with toilet.

Lovely stay over the weekend. The welcoming hamper was amazing and very thoughtful. The log burner was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend the cottage for 4 adults and a dog.

Bathroom and shower room. Bath shower head only gave cold water. Shower in shower room too small. Kitchen not properly cleaned.

Well positioned for visiting the village. The garden is not well kept making it not completely dog friendly. A nice welcome hamper but no welcome book to give you information about the cottage. The location inflates the price in my opinion.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that you don't feel that the garden is " Dog Friendly" It is fully enclosed, so they cannot escape, it is mainly laid to lawn, for playing and poop scooping, there are lots of trees for sniffing and a large shrubbery at the end. I therefore fail to see how this is not dog friendly. We are glad that you enjoyed our lovely welcome hamper, we do sincerely apologise that there was in fact no book containing information on the cottage, there normally is , and also a fact sheet, however, the previous guests either discarded it or perhaps liked it so much that they took it home with them! We have now rectified this but were unable to for your visit as they only left on the morning when you arrived. However, we are always on the end of the phone should you have any problems or issues. Finally, with regards to the location inflating the prices in the 15th century village in a conservation area in the beautiful south Cotswolds, you are entirely correct! We also found this problem when purchasing a beautiful cottage in this area.

We thought the cottage was beautiful -The only points for improvement would be 1.windows to be cleaned( inside and out) 2. Garden tables and chairs to be replaced asap 3.update the house guide-the pamphlets and info were out of date and there was little info about the cottage itself I hope you find these comments useful.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in our cottage. We have given our windows a thorough clean, and our window cleaner is back from his extended holiday now. New Garden furniture has been purchased ready for the summer. We will give the file a good old tidy up, and update the Cottage information. Thank you very much for mentioning these points, we always welcome constructive feedback and look forward to welcoming you back to Well Cottage sometime in the future.

Great place to stay and in a good location relating to Castle Combe. A bit tight for 6 adults, but we had a great time for a weekend away. A few bulbs out and knives broken, but these are niggles. Really cosy and terrific value for money. Great stay.

Great location. Very cosy and comfortable. Slight problem with the shower which needs attention but otherwise a great place to stay.

This property could do with a good clean. Pull out bed isn't comfortable at all. The information pack in the property had barely any info in it. This property could be great as the location is ideal but, has been neglected I think.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We feel the bed is in fact very comfortable as we have both slept in it and found it very comfy but realise that beds are subjective and what is comfortable for one may not be so for another. The property has been completely repainted this year and is finished to a very high standard. Our cleaners are usually meticulous but we will raise your comments with them.
