I was a bit shocked that the cottage was so small and older people would struggle to manage the spiral staircase. The cottage is dark and risks therefore being damp although the heating came on in the evening and kept the chill at bay. Despite poor weather we enjoyed our stay because of the interesting places to visit in the locality and the availability of good pub restaurants in the village even though there is no decent shop - not even anywhere to buy a paper.

Great location. Sweet and comfortable cottage. Sadly wifi did not seem to work, maybe due to weather??

Lovely, tiny, cosy, clean cottage! Lovely village close to everything Quite expensive for how small it is, however perfect for 2 people Would definitely stay here again

Well cottage was warm and welcoming. For me personally it was too small and dark, no back door, just felt rather claustrophobic. I was a day without wi-fi which felt a bit isolating until it was fixed and there was no reception for mobile phone either!

I found the spiral staircase more of an issue than I had expected. Getting a suitcase upstairs was a bit of a struggle, as was coming downstairs with something in both hands. The village shop was a disappointment because it carries very limited stock (despite having unused shelf space). Had we planned to self cater we would have had to drive to Bakewell to buy provisions. The cottage, though, was very nice, the keysafe on the door was very convenient, & we could see that an effort had been made to make the house inviting.

We had a delightful week in a beautiful place with good weather. Youlgrave is quiet but spoilt a little due to it's narrowness and parking difficulties; we were disappointed that 'our' space was always unavailable when we wanted it and sometimes had to park some distance away. The cottage is very well appointed and warm. It smells a little musty but that is an age thing and it wasn't a real issue. BUT why is there never enough loo paper in your cottages? If there are spare rolls do hirers have a tendency to take them away!
