Welcome Retreat offers an absolute gem of a self catering accommodation. It is an ideal base for visiting the local area, close to the shopping district of Newton Abbot and also perfect for exploring the beautiful Devon coast and countryside.I highly recommend both the property as it is clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated with all the facilities you could possibly need for a comfortable stay with friends or families.Everything was absolutely spotless and Bridget the owner even goes the extra mile to accommodate your specific needs. She is a very kind and approachable owner and even left out dog treats and a cuddly toy as she knew we were travelling with my Son and my Dog.This is Pet friendly accommodation and also has a lovely terrace area to relax. The property has its' own private entrance and Bridget is on hand should you need her,but allows you to check in independently, which works well when you are not certain of arrival times etc.The only slight issue for me personally is that it is on quite a steep hill, but this is due to my mobility issues and wouldn't be an issue otherwise. There is also free on street parking for those driving here.

This was an excellent place to stay: I rented the "cottage" for 3 weeks while visiting my elderly mother in Newton Abbot. The "cottage" is actually a flat that occupies the lower floor of an old house with high ceilings, with numerous rooms (living/dining room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, passageways). The furnishings were very good, there was a large storage area for clothes and gear, and the kitchen was fully appointed with everything that I could need for cooking. The living/dining room had a large table, sofas and chairs, with a fully operational TV and DVD setup. It has parking. The host was very helpful, and the flat was cleaned meticulously. Altogether, it was quite a luxurious place to stay. The house is situated on a quiet road but is literally only 100 m from the shopping area of Newton Abbot and a 15 minute walk from the train station. Highly recommended -- I intend to stay here again, and other family members are keen to stay also.

The cottage was bigger than I expected and the landlady was so helpful and welcoming. I will certainly stay there again.

This is a very nice holiday cottage which is very well kept by the owner. The location has good access to both the coast and moors. We had a very good stay and would return again.

Excellent accommodation. Well equipped and lots of thoughtful extras for dog and owner. Parking is available but recommended reversing onto drive is difficult due to residents only bays opposite. Garden is quite small but there's a park close by for dog walking. Perhaps better suited to small/medium dogs. Owner extremely pleasant and on hand for any problems (not that we had any)

Being octogenarians, the steep hill setting rather threw us. The apartment itself was clean, well organised and well equipped with space to spare. The accommodation is on three floors and the basement flat was a surprise, especially when a rave broke out on the Saturday evening. Overall the apartment is fine, but beware the 'Hellfire Club' in the basement ..... we are really past the age for raves!!

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. The property is converted into 3 self-contained apartments, and the apartment for this holiday let is on the ground floor. On the Saturday night the young couple who live in the basement flat held a private birthday party with 10 guests. The party finished at approximately 11pm and there was some noise as the guests left. We do apologise for this and would like to assure any future guests this was a one off occasion.
