The historic fishing town of Whitby, famous for Dracula, with its cobbled streets, stunning Abbey and Museum is well worth a visit, where you can take a boat trip down the harbour or walk along the three miles of golden sandy beach that stretches to the beautiful resort of Sandsend.  There are plenty of stunning coastal villages to visit including Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes, all within easy reach.

A fantastic cottage within reach of all of the North Yorks Moors attractions, a great butcher and baker in the village, the fish and chip restaurant is literally 50 yards from the gate to the property and is excellent, pub up the road has a restaurant and is dog friendly in the bar(quiz on a Wednesday night). Sleights and the property exceeded our expectations. The only thing I would say about the property is if you are travelling with elderly relatives there a lot of steps in the property on the ground floor because of the nature of the building. Overall opinion, excellent.

Lovely house and lovely owners who could not do enough for us. Milk and cakes on arrival and beautifully clean with every amenity. Delphine recommend The Plough for a meal and we had the added bonus of the Tour de Yorkshire on the Sunday. Would certainly stay there again and can thoroughly recommend the house and location.

We stayed at Waverly cottage for the new year week 2015/2016. There were 8 of us altogether, 7 adults and a 14 year old. Waverly cottage is a really spacious cottage, plenty of room for all of us, we had a lovely stay and the owner is lovely. The kitchen was very well equiped. The fact that there is room for 3 cars to park was a real bonus. The only downside was that the kitchen was really cold so remember to take your slippers, but having said that this wouldn't deter us from going again as everything else was excellent, we will definitely be returning!!

We did have the cottage on the late May bank holiday, paying a premium rate for the privilege - hence the value for money score of 8. The cottage lacks any internet provision, which in this day and age is an essential. This was not helped by the fact that mobile phone reception inside the building was poor except in the upstairs sitting room. A tumble dryer would be a useful addition to the cottage's white goods. Other than the above comparatively minor negative points, Waverley Cottage was an excellent holiday home for our party of six adults, two infants and one dog.
