It does state on working farm..and Iv e stayed at others and not been put off, but this is a pig farm and the pigs are very close to the lodge and the smell was strong. They had also been 'spreading the fields' and I was nearly sick when I got out of the car. Luckily no smell in the lodge. Also dogs in kennel barked in the night. Faultless lodge, clean, well equipt, beautifully presented, just needs to be a bit further away from the pigs!!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you found the Lodge to be clean, well equipped and beautifully presented – Just what we aim for! Washburn Lodge is indeed situated within a working farm environment and farmyard smells maybe evident from time to time but this is typical for a property set in such a beautiful rural setting and has not caused any issues previously. On the day of your arrival, we were mucking out the cows and this will be the smell that you are referring to. Also, the farm dog was barking as it was being pestered by a cheeky fox which has now left him alone! We hope that the above did not detract too much from an enjoyable stay at Washburn Lodge and we hope to see you again soon!

Fantastic accomodation, had a brilliant time. Was a bit noisy from time to time, it is situated on a working farm and the week we stayed the young cows had been separated from their mothers and were calling out to them, this did not deter from our pleasure of the location.

Very lovely property and friendly owners. Absolutely perfect for our needs with a preschooler and a baby. Very well equipped. Only downside was the travel cot provided didn't fit in the bedroom but we'd brought our own bednest so didn't matter to us, but otherwise would have had to have baby outside the bedroom in main living area or in the bathroom. We had a lovely stay here - v handy for the dales, Leeds, Harrogate, York etc.

Enjoyable stay in well equipped lodge. Would not stay in Summer months as could not open windows or sit outside due to strong farm smells. Booklet about lodge needs more content i.e: cooker instructions and Wifi details. Generally clean but cooker needs a good clean and mould in bathrooms needs cleaning.

Brilliant position for seeing the lovely Nidderdale area. It was nice to be on the farm and not in the middle of a large caravan site. Very comfortable and well equipped lodge.

The property was well furnished and had all of the requirements for a home from home holiday. The Lodge was convenient to a number of "attractions" that we wished to visit such as Harlow Carr, Harrogate Flower Show, Newby Hall, Saltaire, and of course Harrogate itself. Having experienced the area fully we would probably not choose to return within the foreseeable future, and this has nothing to do with the accommodation or location. It should be noted that this property is adjacent to a working farm with the obvious "smells of the countryside" in evidence outside of the property itself.

This was a great place to stay. We didn't have to go far to all the places we wanted to visit. It was well equipped and very comfortable.
