Perfect if you are looking for a remote location to get away from everything, limited mobile signal and no data connection or wifi. Not a place to come if you aren't travelling with pets as there are pet smells within the cottage and courtyard, but we didn't mind that and felt much more at ease with our dogs than we would have been if the place was immaculate. To reach the cottage you do have to travel up a pot holed, long driveway, but that is due to the rural location, it's only an inconvenience for 2 minutes. It is on a main route from the airport and the planes fly above quite low and loud from early hours to late at night, but didn't really bother us saying that. The woods are lovely nearby and a good place to walk your dogs. We did have a tick issue on returning home though, so it may be wise to protect your pet before you go. The cottage is filled with everything you could need, far more than usual self catering accommodation that I've been to before. Lovely kitchen, complete with dishwasher and washing machine and all cleaning products provided, and a lovely clean bathroom. We had biscuits and tea making groceries provided on arrival and even a bunch of flowers set out on the table for us. We would go back, as we enjoyed our stay, but don't expect the Ritz as it's a place that accepts multiple dogs.

Yes you hear the planes but isn't that pretty obvious due to its location!? We had an amazing time chilling and walking with our dogs! Cottage was clean, tidy, warm and well equipped! Couldn't have asked for much more!

Pros: Decent shower, nice towels, good size main bedroom with comfortable bed. Cons: jet aircraft right overhead from 6.30am, dog friendly therefore smelly dirty furniture, terrible bumpy pot-holed track to get there. Scruffy garden and yard. No wifi, no mobile signal. Paintball yard right next to cottage. Overall, not suitable as a holiday cottage

Had a lovely time. Took three dogs with us who absolutely loved it. There are extensive woods to walk the dogs and the cottage is well off the beaten track. We only saw someone else twice on our walks during the whole time we were there. There is no wifi and rarely a mobile phone signal, which was wonderful for us as we could truly escape and have a well needed rest. The cottage came equipped with everything you could need, even a book by my favourite author that I hadn't read. We would have no hesitation in coming back again.

The location was lovely, and the cottage could have been so nice. Unfortunately there was a really unpleasant smell to the place, especially the sofa, chairs and rugs. I think mostly pet smells. The place was basically clean, but the floor downstairs was not and the smell was off-putting. The outside area needed a real tidy-up, with the patio area needing a really good weed and sweep. The pool area was very neglected, again needing a very good sweep and tidy up. When we arrived the pool itself was filthy and not ready for use. Although, to be fair, by the next day this had been sorted. I was not expecting great things, having seen previous reviews. I could see the place had been cleaned, but the standard was not great. The towels also did not smell clean, but slightly musty and of pets and were a rather "grey white" Lovely welcome package with some flowers, milk, biscuits, cake and tea bags. The owner was helpful.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; So sorry that this holiday experience didn't meet your expectations. All I can say is that the cottage is available to people with up to three dogs and most people do have this number of dogs with them. We always spray the furniture with Febreeze before each visit and the rug downstairs in the living area was in fact new. We replace this regularly due to wear and tear. All the floors upstairs and downstairs are washed with Cif floor cleaner before each visit. Being flagstone floors they do have a realistic look. The outside area does need a good tidy up - this is due to the short time available between visitors which is spent cleaning the property - this has to be done between 10am and 3pm. The gardeners we employ to cut the lawns have now been asked to undertake this task and hopefully whatever visitors are in residence at the time will be tolerant of their presence. The pool had not been vacuumed for one night although the safety tests had all been completed. This was due to the owners birthday celebrations and a lapse of memory - we forgot to put the automatic cleaner in last thing at night. The visitors to the cottage were met and had this explained to them. They were promised it would be fine for the next day and it was then and for the whole time of their visit. They swam every day. The towels also were new this year. They are washed at 60 degrees and a fabric conditioner is used. Due to criticisms of the cleaning of the cottage a firm of cleaners is now used and any complaints can now be directed to them.

It was under a flight path, potholes leading to the property are horrendous, there is a paintball centre adjoining the property so on Sunday mornings you hear not only the pop pop of the guns but grown men shouting war charts, we had mouse droppings in the tea towel draw and when I cleaned my teeth in my direct sight was a fly that was squashed on the wall the sofa had dust built up over at least several weeks. I can add if you wish
