We had a great time at Wallhouse Barn - we particularly love the great living room with the the amazing views from the windows. You really get the feeling of being nestled in the middle of the moor. Our 2 kids loved the mezzanine - as they could hide away in there with their toys and play. The location is great as there are so many places within easy distance to visit. We plan on staying here again.

We enjoyed our stay, it was comfortable and clean. We consider that it was value for money in October but would not consider height of season prices as being value for money. We arrived in the middle of storm Brian and the owner came over to make us feel welcome.

Lovely comfortable accommodation in beautiful surroundings, however not much of a view from inside.

The dishwasher is very small and set high up on the wall so as to be rather impractical - we did not use it for the whole week. The track to the cottage is very rough (but you could put this down to part of its charm) - 4X4 recommended but not essential. Our suspension suffered. For some strange reason there are no curtains in the main bedroom - just thin blinds. We had to hang up the spare bedding over the windows so it would be dark enough to allow sleep. The downstairs room curtains are very thin so we did something similar there to make it dark enough for the kids to get to sleep. The lounge roof. Oh that lounge roof ! It is made of some sort of clear plastic and when it rains, oh boy do you hear it. We unfortunately suffered prolonged periods of heavy rain and had to shout amongst ourselves to hear each other. Also had to turn the TV volume way up to hear it. Please slate it over or something - having a clear roof isn't the best option anyway -bit like staying in a greenhouse. Apart from that - lovely out of the way location with animals all around - sheep, cattle, ponies, dogs. Direct access to the moors and some lovely walks in the area. The lounge, despite its roof, is nice and spacious and the small roof area up a steep ladder in the main bedroom was great for the kids to set up shop in. We also thought the shower was great. No real play area we could use as the grass was very long - like tall pasture rather than lawn.

Great if you want a quiet getaway on Bodmin Moor. The cottage could hav done with a few basics like curtains and proper/comfortable mattresses. The roof in the lounge is made of Perspex, so if it rains it makes a lot of noise and if it's hot the lounge is like an oven. Mild weather- it would be perfect.

The owners were very pleasant and the actual location was beautiful. To get there you have to drive 3/4 of a mile up a road where the hedges touched my new admittedly wide car on both sides. I am now faced with a £500 bill to repaint the wings of my car because they got scratched despite driving extremely carefully at walking pace. An expensive holiday. 4 of the 10 bulbs in the lounge ceiling lights were not working. The lights were so feeble we had to read by torchlight.

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your recent email and comments. I can only point out that Cornwall's quaintness comes from its tiny lanes and back roads with bountiful flora and fauna. I believe this is well described as a property that is away from the madding crowd - appealing to those who are looking for the quiet retreat. I am sorry that I wasn't asked for replacement light bulbs as this could easily have been rectified.
