This is a good quality cottage with its own private patio to the rear and a lovely drive and garden to the front which is ideal for families as its fenced off with lots of room to play. A big downfall of Walkmill however is the WIFI connectivity which is intermitment and a poor signal, we had both apple and mircosoft devices and struggled consistantly to get on line we could sometimes send and receive emails but struggled to load any websites and streaming anything was impossible some people in the adajacent cottage experienced exactly the same issues as we did. The TV system was quite complicated to use with three different controls and three inputs and the welcome information book was out of date having obviously been done in 2010 and needs some more current information to help people who are new to the area in 2017. We only saw the owners once during our two week stay so we were unable to obtain more updated information on the local area which would have been useful . We had an enjoyable stay at Walkmill and its in a pretty location in an area of outstanding natural beauty so if you want to get away from and switch off the distractions of modern life its an ideal place to stay.

Walkmill Lodge is an excellent place to spend a relaxed holiday in the very centre of the Shropshire Hills. The cottage has been refurbished to a high specification with all requirements taken care of. The lounge is comfortable and the kitchen large and well stocked. The lodge was exceptionally clean on arrival, with the fridge turned on and a welcome pack waiting in the kitchen. The bedrooms, bathrooms and bedding were exceptionally clean. The dedicated garden and walk around the owner's garden next to a gurgling river was beautiful. One minor point is that the strength of the broadband signal was intermittent, but for a get away from it all holiday, does it matter? A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

A very cosy cottage, with a secluded sitting-out area at the back which is a lovely sun-trap. Very clean, and good off-road parking. The village Inn is really good, excellent menu, good beers, friendly service and very reasonably priced. Village shop has all the essentials, and both shop and Inn are only five minutes walk from the cottage.

Not too sure about paying deposit for breakages up front . Owners went on holiday so will ring them to check on disposal of our deposit - very nice cottage but a little bit remote. Good pub up the road. Nice owners.

Our only disappointments were the lack of dog walking facilities, off road, straight from the cottage. No wifi signal for phone or internet access.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to leave a review - however, I'm a little surprised by your comments, which Id like to respond to if I may. The Walkmill is very popular with dog owners as there are lots of walks. Firstly we have 3 acres of grounds that you have direct access too which are perfect for a quick early morning/bedtime comfort break, but we are also surrounded by fields with dedicated footpaths. However, we are in a farming community so you will need to keep your pooch on the lead in certain fields. We do have wifi on site and the service has recently been tested in Walkmill Lodge and was found to be working. We didn't get a chance to speak about this so I'm unsure whether you couldn't connect at all, or whether the signal was just painfully slow which unfortunately is a challenge for this rural community.. We understand fully that many of our guests rely on wifi and this is why we offer our guests the option to come in to our home and connect directly. I know this isn't a perfect solution for general communications but its always a fallback position if you need a wifi service urgently. Finally, there is no O2 mobile signal within 3 miles of the cottages, however, we do have an EE signal. Again you are welcome to use our telephone in an emergency, or indeed to leave our number with your loved ones. I'm so sorry we didn't get a chance to assist you with these matters when you came to stay.
