Wagtails is a charming, cosy cottage, simply furnished and equipped but with everything that we needed for our four day stay. The location is slightly remote but extraordinarily beautiful and, that said, pretty, quirky Bishops Castle is only a 10-15 minute drive away and has a well-stocked Coop, a variety of other shops and several nice tearooms. And the proximity of the beautiful, gentle wolves - the cottage is in the grounds of animal sanctuary and education centre Wolfwatch UK - makes this a very special place to stay. The price was incredibly reasonable, and we felt that we were significantly undercharged for such comfortable accommodation! Tony and Eva, and their delightful, friendly dogs, Lucky (spaniel) and Ginny (deerhound), made us very welcome, and Tony gave very generously of his time, showing us around the Wolfwatch Sanctuary, and allowing us to meet and feed some of its amazing residents. The sanctuary carries out important work - not only rescuing wolves and giving them the lives they must have dreamed of in darker times, but educating the general public about wolf behaviour - and it was a privilege to be able to see it for ourselves, and learn more about these beautiful animals. We would not have missed this very special place and experience for the world. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer, as there is so much to do and see in Shropshire. We truly relaxed and were able to put everyday stresses to one side in this enchanting place.
