Excellent! very clean, comfortable, had everything one needed. Cher the owner very courteous. A very nice touch with wine, flowers milk, tea etc on arrival. One of the first holiday lets I didn't feel the need to clean when I arrived. Excellent value for money.

Cottage was fine in all respects, personally a bit too remote for us and I didn't like the drive through narrow lanes, not much in the village.. Don't let this put YOU off if you like it quiet. Nice welcome pack, and very comfortable cottage. Had a very nice meal in the Torrington arms, better than expected.

Beautifully decorated & furnished cottage. Beds were very comfy and lounge lovely to sit in after day of long walks. There's a pub up the road and proper supplies in Torrington so just needs a little planning. A great base to explore the area - Tarka Trail, Clovelly, Exmoor, Dartmoor and loads of beaches. We would stay again without hesitation. Thank you Cher

Returning visitor. Had a lovely relaxing week in a beautiful cottage. Can't fault the cottage at all. New fire since our last visit was a favourite with the hound as it gave off a lot of warmth. Quiet location with no local shops so come with supplies.

Although we had dreadful weather (storm Dora) Virginia cottage was always extremely warm and cosy. This property is very well appointed and beautifully decorated with lots of nice touches like the flameless candles and we loved the quirky animal pictures. The beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding and for a cottage the rooms were a good size - we had plenty of space. The bathroom was pure luxury- I wish mine was like this at home! I think a second sofa rather than the tub chairs would be more comfy. The cottage oozed charm and character and the kitchen was well equipped including cooking spices, clingfilm, soap powder for washing machine etc - I always pack a kitchen box when self catering and simply did not need it (which is a first). Lovely bottle of wine on arrival - thank you. There is not much outside space - a small rear paved patio area but as it was enclosed was safe for our dog and the parking was right next to the cottage. Just across the road was a bridal path where we could safely walk the dog.The property is quite remote from shops etc which means you have to drive to go anywhere but this was not a problem for us. We travelled to Bude (great beach) and Westward Ho where we had our best cream tea ever. Shame about the weather but we had a very enjoyable stay and would definately return to this property.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your lovely review and we are so pleased you felt safe in Virginia Cottage during a raging storm! We have ordered 2 new Laura Ashley sofas, a two seater and a snuggler, to replace the current arrangement and they are due to arrive at the end of November. The tub chairs will remain but we expect these new additions to provide a little more comfort and cosiness.
