Cosy cottage, reasonable location if you wish to travel, spa bath was a treat. However the accommodation had poor standards of cleanlines, cobwebs, dust and a lot of animal hairs. We had to remove previous rubbish from upstairs bathroom and the shower screen had soapscrum left on it. The stair gate didn't fit. The floor tile on the inside of the front doorstep was broken and sharp. Lights next to the toilet were lose in their fixings and both the chair in the bathroom and the dining room had broken arms and need repairing.

Response on behalf of the owner; Cleanliness is very important to us and we apologise unreservedly if this guest did not find things to our usual standard. We don’t believe the floors were covered in dog hair but loose fibres from the newly replaced rugs which are shedding a little in accordance with the manufactures proviso. We were unaware that the chairs were broken and they were removed for repair after the guests departure. The stair gate has an extension device which enables it to fit a larger space and the lights by the downstairs toilet, as with those in the kitchen, rock slightly in their cradle so that they give a little if knocked to avoid damage. This is a design aspect of the lights. There is one spotlight above the toilet in the bathroom which was a little loose, as it had broken earlier in the year and a temporary repair was undertaken to ensure it was safe. This should not have been apparent unless physically inspected but all the lights in the bathroom are scheduled for replacement in November.

2nd bedroom badly needs blind. Woken by light from 4 a.m. Had to resort to pinning 3 beach towels to windows to help. Could also do with large saucepan for cooking 1 pot family meals. Poor light for reading etc in sitting room. Cottage generally very pleasant and well equipped.

    Response from: administrator

Thank you for your comments. The second bedroom does have a curtain but currently it doesn't have a blackout blind due to the opening style of the southern window. We are looking into a solution. The lounge has mood lighting but also has two task lamps for reading etc. and we have now placed an enormous (all surface) casserole pot in the kitchen cupboard for very large one-pot cooking.
