This contemporary first floor apartment is ideally situated just a few yards from the beach and harbour. Within easy, flat walking distance to Portreath’s sandy beach, harbour and local shops including a post office, bakery, supermarket and several pubs serving food. Portreath is a family friendly holiday destination with secluded sandy beaches, perfect for swimming or relaxing and popular with surfers. With direct access to the Cornish Coastal Path, it is great for walkers and hikers. Tehidy Country Park and Golf Club, just a short distance away, is a beautiful country park comprising 240 acres of woodland, bridleways, lakes, cycling, nature trails and a small café, creating an ideal escape for those seeking peace and quiet. Nearby Illogan Woods has streams and a circular walk leading to the 14th-century church tower of Illogan. The area is popular with cyclists, and the old tram cycle trail runs through Portreath on the north coast to Devoran, where you pass many old engine houses which shows testimony to the area’s tin mining history. Visitors can also hire bikes locally. Why not take the scenic coastal train from nearby St Erth to St Ives, with its picturesque harbour and winding streets full with independent shops, art galleries including the Tate Modern and the Barbra Hepworth Museum. Dine al fresco in one of the many waterfront restaurants and cafes, or simply relax on one of the several beautiful sandy beaches. Beach 50 yards. Shop 100 yards, pub 20 yards.

Lovely place, but the bed was small and not comfortable.

Spotlessly clean but in desperate need of modernisation. Very dated interior. stairway up to flat was stale smelling. Door wouldn't lock from the inside so at night the property was insecure

Very disappointing flat and extremely expensive - poor value for money.

Beautiful location, the village is a quiet, fairly sleepy Cornish town. You are literally on the beach, which is lovely, however, you are in an upstairs flat with very little outside space (and none that you can call your own for sure). We were unlucky with the weather, it was atrocious, now obviously that is not the accommodation’s fault, but it did highlight a few issues, windows were very old, handles were falling off of some of them. We used folded cardboard between the frame and window handle to keep one window in the lounge closed during a particularly severe storm, because the lock on the window did not engage at all. Another review mentioned the neighbours downstairs, they are still there, and they turn their music on between 7 and 8 pm each night. It is not loud enough to be anti-social, in fact, it is quiet enough that a decent carpet and underlay would solve the problem, but the carpet dates from I'm unsure how long ago so it is of little use in that regard (by the same token I would apologise to them for my wonderful children waking up at 5am every day). The kitchen was reasonably presented, but on opening cupboards, we found mould that had not been cleaned under the sink. The Fire Blanket would not stay in its box, it kept falling out, and the fire extinguisher was last serviced in 2010 I think it said. A handle fell off one of the closet doors on our first day. This criticism is not alone to this accomnodation, but if you are marketing a holiday home to families with children, put black out curtains in the children's rooms! The owner had left cake, fresh bread and various bits and pieces for warm drinks which were very welcome. Outside, you have the appearance of a council house, 4 flats served by a grey concrete floor about 2ft above the beach, no furnishings, no "prettification" if such a word exists. It is a stark contrast to the other holiday cottages further along the beach. There is no Wi-Fi - the owner did kindly offer to have his brother's Wi-Fi made available to us as he lives downstairs, but that made us uncomfortable so we did not take advantage of the kind offer. We did struggle to get hold of the owner in advance (the mailbox on the phone was full), however when I did leave a message the owner called back very quickly and told us we could pick the key up from a shop in the village, offered the use of his brothers internet and was a very lovely chap to speak to. My own opinion: if you are on a budget, I would not advise you to go elsewhere, the accommodation is okay. But if you have a little more to spend, I would look elsewhere, and certainly personally, we would seek a place with an outside area so we can be sure we are not annoying any downstairs neighbours at the ungodly hours my children wake up.

Response on behalf of the Owner; A little bit disappointed with your review although we haven’t a lot of outside space you are right on the beach, the property is upstairs as advertised and has the best view of the whole of the coast line with two beaches really stunning location – you don’t even have to wear a pair of shoes as you can just walk straight to the beach. What a shame you didn’t get to enjoy all of this. You commented on the windows, this is something we have been aware of and they have now all been replaced with new windows. The fire extinguisher has been replaced - the date was 2016 not 2010. We did offer you the use of free Wi-Fi which you declined. We do understand if you have children and the weather is bad you do stay in more, hopefully the next time you visit Cornwall the sun will be shining for you.
