The Villa Laura is a large, well appointed villa about 60km north east of Rome, and just to the east of the village of Monteleone Sabino. Overall it's a 9 out of 10 villa, with only one issue to consider. At various times this property was originally a farmhouse, which was then extended as a restaurant, wedding venue and bed and breakfast. As a villa it is therefore huge on the ground floor but also spacious on the first floor. The ground floor has a huge lounge, professionally appointed kitchen and a formal dining room. The unexpected benefit is a huge conservatory, with retractable roof, where it's cool in the morning. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, each with en suite, so eight could stay here easily. Outside the garden is very large, the pool really good, with plenty of chairs, umbrellas and a gazebo. The local town has a Tigre supermarket, a great Gelateria , but not really anywhere great to eat. We went to Rieti, which is 30 minutes, and has a good range of restaurants and a Lidl Rome is reasonably accessible, we drove to Fara Sabina to get the train. Free parking and only 3 euros to Roma Turbitina station, which is 40 minutes. My only gripe was that on getting the keys we had to pay over 550 euros, in cash, to the landlady for linen (50), cleaning (200), electric (100) and a deposit (200). Seemed to us that the first three should have been in the hire fee! So, all round great, but the hidden extras took the edge off it. (August 2017)
