Victoria Lodge close to the heart of Lynton, with walks to Watersmeet and Valley of the rocks from the door, take the clifftop railway to Lynmouth.

Victoria Lodge is a very Victorian house indeed! Located close to the heart of the clifftop town of Lynton, this holiday home retains the ambience and appearance of how it might have been in the Victorian era. From the sumptuously furnished and decorated bedrooms to the picture collection, this adjoining house offers something very different, and is an ideal destination to spend a holiday or to celebrate a special occasion. Despite its very Victorian appearance, the house is very much geared to modern day requirements, with all the bedrooms having en-suite facilities and televisions. There is a good-sized shared terraced garden at the rear to enjoy the surroundings and guests can enjoy the popular walks to Watersmeet and Valley of the Rocks which can start directly from the door. It is also a short walk to the heart of Lynton, which has a good range of shops, restaurants and amenities. Lynton is connected to its close seaside neighbour Lynmouth by the famous clifftop railway. Lynmouth is delightful and again has a good range of shops and places to eat. There are numerous attractions within easy reach of the house including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country can be found, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor. A day out into West Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, Dunster with its castle (NT) and the seaside town of Minehead, home to the West Somerset Stream Railway. There are NT properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Great Torrington. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

The kitchen was not that well equipped as far as cooking utensils also could not find a grill pan for the oven, also there was no DVD player in the television room but was stated in the facilities (this upset our Grandaughter very much as she had bought some of her DVDs with her. d Would also have been good to have a tumble drier

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review. Cottages 4 You provide the Owners with a list of items that must be provided in any house advertised by them and this has provided the basis for provisioning the house for rental. However, I was surprised to read about the lack of a grill pan in the cooker, such that I had to go into the house to double check this. Whilst the grill pan may not have been placed under the grill, the grill pan was in the kitchen cupboard with the other pans. I will ensure that in future the pan is more obviously on show under the grill. I was also very sorry to read of your granddaughter’s dismay about a lack of DVD player in the lounge. Of the seven TV sets in the house, four of them have integrated DVD players in them. For those future guests who may be reading this and want to plan room allocation ahead of their visit, they will be found in Alexandra, Beatrice, Charlotte and Helena. I am sorry if this spoiled your holiday, and thank you for providing your feedback on your Victoria Lodge visit.
