The two of us spent a 60th birthday celebration at Vicarage Cottage and enjoyed every minute of our week here in this delightful setting. An ideal base to visit Ironbridge and its attractions only about a 30 mins drive. Shrewsbury is four miles away and a lovely town with many old buildings. A few minutes from the cottage you will find Battlefield Falconry Centre which houses a good farm shop for better quality items; there is also a cafe here and toilets. The cottage sleeping 5 was spotlessly clean and well appointed, although the lounge is smaller than it appears on the virtual tour and seating is really only comfortably adequate for 4 adult persons. Having said that much peace and quiet is to be had here so a restful night's sleep in comfy beds. The grounds are spacious and there is clear warnings in the property that there is an unfenced drop at its boundary where there is a stream which can be deep in times of heavy rain. Lovely open views from most windows of Shropshire countryside. The 2 main bedrooms are of adequate size with good quality bedding and a sheet under the duvet is provided which is an added bonus; in our experience of cottage holidays over the last 30 years this is not seen very often nowadays. The single downstairs bedroom is not large but is ideal for a disabled guest as the en-suite room attached has a large shower cubicle which has grab rails. The owners Joan & Stephen were genial hosts and could not do enough for us but were not 'over attentive'. The welcome pack provided was the most generous we have ever encountered which saved us from popping into the village on arrival for provisions. The facilities at Vicarage cottage were good. An open fire is available if desired with logs on request. Great to have internet access, unlike some other guests we had no problem whatsoever with the WiFi service. There were lots of information leaflets in the cottage of where to eat etc and local attractions. Our only suggestion to future visitors would be to bring a plug-in night light for the landing if you are bringing small children as there is really no light from street lamps due to the location of the property. Also there is no reading matter or DVD's for those wet days so take your own entertainment. Otherwise a brilliant property and would definitely visit again in the future.

Absolutely lovely place to stay and lived up to all expectations. Joan and Stephen the owners are lovely and friendly. My elderly mum left her phone charger behind which Joan very kindly contacted us to obtain her address and then posted it to her with a lovely note. What kind and caring gesture. Fabulous! Would highly recommend. Patricia Steve and Grace

A location South of Shrewsbury rather than North would have been better for us, hence the score of 6 on location. It is not easy to get around Shrewsbury everyday to head South. This was a quiet and extremely pleasant holiday cottage in the grounds of a church and graveyard. From the personal welcome and the welcome pack through to the last day we were pleased with our choice. In every respect the quality of what was provided was very high, with one drawback. In the modern age better wifi is required and this holiday cottage fell far short of what is now required for most families. I would not recommend for families with teenagers or those needing to do business while away. My fellow travellers had no interest in wifi at all and were not affected.

Ideal for our purpose. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my elderly mother. Excellent furnishings and equipment, beautiful gardens and very friendly and thoughtful owners. Wonderful welcome pack.

Lovely cottage with a fantastic garden. Lots of wildlife to be seen - rabbits and woodpeckers. Great value for money. Great location with lots to see and do - would love to go back. Fantastic welcome pack - best one we have had yet. Just loved it.

Stayed at Vicarage Cottage with my wife and two children, aged 15 and 11. We found the cottage clean, comfortable and cosy. It is set in lovely grounds with a huge area of grass for the children to play. There is a stream at the bottom of the garden with a fairly steep bank - no problem for our children but could be hazardous for younger children. The owners are very friendly, lovely people and provided regular top-ups of logs for the fire and a nice Welcome Basket. Highly recommended.
