English Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

Deep in the English countryside, this attractive cottage combines rural relaxation with ease of access to Brighton and London.

In a superb countryside location, next to acres of fields, these two delightful holiday cottages (refs PRRD and PRRE) stand side by side at the end of a lane, next to a large barn conversion. There are various local walks via bridleways and footpaths. Also close by is a lake within an SSSI area, where many birds and wildlife can be seen. As well as dogs, horses are also welcome by prior arrangement as there are fields adjoining both properties. The charming village of Ockley, a 10-minute walk, has a church, cricket green, four inns, various eateries and a farm shop. The market town of Horsham is a 15-minute drive, and Dorking, with its shops, restaurants, cafés and trains to London, is a 10-minute drive. Also near to Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and just 30 minutes’ drive to Brighton and the south coast. Explore the stunning Surrey Hills (AONB), discover picturesque villages such as Shere, Leith Hill or visit various NT properties and gardens. Places of interest include Polesden Lacey, Box Hill, Bocketts Far, Denbies Vineyard, Chessington World of Adventures, Hampton Court, Painshill Park, Clandon Park, Hatchlands Park, Wakehurst Place, Leonardslee and Nymans. Great little cottage, but mattress really needs replacing!

Beautiful surroundings, nice walking in the area and owner was very helpful. However we are very critical about beds and they weren't very comfy. All in all we had a pleasant time in Primrose cottage

Only a couple of very minor beefs. No adequate coir mat at the back door, so feet bring in gravel every time on going outside. One bulb (out of four) not live in the kitchen, hence it was a little dark. Slightly more major complaint about the fold-down dining table - very clever in principle, but unfortunately there is nowhere to really set it up. Put it behind the door in the kitchen, for example, and the door can't be opened; carry it into the sitting room and again there is not really enough space. Not sure of the solution when there are four adults and a child. Otherwise, pretty well everything is excellent.

A lovely cottage in a good location however beds and bedding tired and shower lacking in pressure. Whilst not the owners fault, the driveway experienced new dog mess daily, despite signs. Very convenient for Gatwick and served our purpose for a few days.

Location was excellent for the dog walking. Parking was a problem - couldn't park directly outside the property. Dog mess from local dogs running through the garden and car park unpleasant. Step up to cottage was too high both into the garden and up to the main cottage. Drill bit and old boxed iron left lying on the top of the water butt and used bottle of what looked like oil left lying. Dining was a challenge trying to seat 4 people in the kitchen. We moved the table into the lounge area so we could be seated and had to move settees to accommodate this. General feel of the property was unkempt and could do with a bit of TLC. Information about locality and recycling/ disposal of waste would have been useful.
