Set down a private lane just 3 miles from Southwold and its sandy beach, these two spacious, beamed holiday properties are careful restorations of a Grade II listed farmhouse. East Wing has as open fire in the living room and an ornamental inglenook fireplace in the dining room, whilst West Wing has wood burners in both the living and dining rooms. Each has its own garden, and both benefit from free wi-fi internet access as well. Picturesque Southwold has good shops, inns and restaurants. Excellent coastal walks, fishing and golf nearby. Shops and Adnams pub/restaurant 1 mile. Although completely self-contained, East Wing (ref BFG) and West Wing (ref BFM) can be interconnected via an adjoining door to provide spacious accommodation for up to 15 people.

    We really enjoyed staying in this lovely, well-equipped holiday home. The private garden was perfect for the dogs and there were lots of lovely walks straight from the front door. The owner checked that we had everything we needed but did not intrude on our privacy. Perfect. We found lots to do and see in the local area. If you like country walks , pretty villages and welcoming pubs, this is an excellent base.

    Three generations all loved staying in the West Wing for the space, serenity and sense of permanence it offered. In a hectic world of busy schedules it offered a wonderful, relaxing retreat. Everything worked, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped and we were delighted by the speed with which Simon arrived to retune the TV. Add to that the beautiful surrounding beaches and countryside and we were well-satisfied with our week in Suffolk.

    We had a great time at Vale farm. Everything was in good order and there was plenty of room for our party to spread out.

    Fantastic holiday home with plenty nearby to enjoy (mainly outdoor activities). Pictures do not do property justice, for example, we couldn't tell if 9 people could sit round dining table and it was an enormous room with a beautiful log burner with ample space and seats for 9.

    Our party consisted of six adults and four children(7 to 13) who all enjoyed having the space to chill out. There were two lounges which were very comfortable. One had the TV and a wood burning stove. The staircase to the first floor was narrow and turned ninety degrees but did not present any problem at all. In fact the children enjoyed using it.

    We all had a fantastic time in the beautiful cottage, lovely way to see in the new year in such a beautiful place, couldn't have asked for more

    We had various problems while staying here. The drains got blocked, the heating system had air locks that sounded like a machine gun in the early hours and the beds were very uncomfortable. With regards to the drain though I do have to say that the landlord was fantastic at rectifying this as quickly as he could, there was nothing more he could have done. Overall the house was big, in a beautiful setting and great location. There was just a bit of money that needs to be spent to get this up to a standard that it was worth the money. The beds could be more comfy, the airlocks need sorting out and maybe a kettle that doesn't leak. The landlord was a lovely guy though who tried his best to be as accomodating as possible. If these issues are rectified, it would be a fantastic place to stay.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Very disappointed to read this review. The Guests called on the second evening to say there was a problem with the drains and I responded immediately. Thank you for mentioning that. After that we did not hear any more from the Guests despite stressing 'please do not hesitate to call.' We always endeavour to address any concerns brought to our attention as quickly as possible. The kettle developed a leak during their stay and has since been replaced and the air let out of the heating system. Both these issues could have easily been rectified during their stay if only they had let us know. The house is undergoing it's annual refurbishment so any other issues can be addressed.
