Description

This property is located on a complex which boasts 6-acre grounds, as well as an on-site bar and restaurant.

Lying peacefully beneath the shadows of Mount Carningli (The Mount of Angels) in the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, these traditional Welsh barns (refs 30144, 30145, 30146, 30147, 30148 and 30149) offer peace and tranquillity in abundance, and are just a stone’s throw away from the charming coastal resort of Newport, famous for its Welsh culture, traditional pubs, restaurants and a golden sandy beach. Comprising a mixture of ground floor, first floor and two-storey accommodation, the former barns date back to the 17th century, and retain all of their original charm and character, with each room having comfortable furnishings and amenities for that unforgettable holiday experience. Gellifawr Cottages are nestled uniquely in the beautiful Gwaun Valley countryside, with 6 acres of landscaped gardens and shimmering lakes, where white doves have freedom of flight. Guests can sit, relax and unwind whilst watching the red kites soar over the magnificent scenery, or take advantage of the on-site bar and restaurant, which is renowned locally for its fine dining and real ales. The area itself has lots to offer, including fantastic walks along the nearby Preseli Hills, where visitors can discover the numerous trails and ancient monuments scattered along the rolling countryside - an ideal holiday base. A short drive away is the spectacular coastal path, which leads you through the picturesque coastal resorts of Newport, Fishguard and Solva, offering a collection of unblemished beaches, boutique gift shops, art galleries and restaurants with freshly caught seafood always on the menu. Explore the historic city of St. Davids, featuring the magnificent 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of the Bishop’s Palace, or for the more adventurous, take a sea safari expedition around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to sea birds, seals and the occasional bottlenose dolphin and whale. The beaches of Newport, Whitsands and Newgale are within easy reach, and are renowned for surf and water sports activities. Away from the coast, Pembrokeshire’s countryside is just as promising, with its array of charming market towns and medieval castles dotted around the county; history is only a short drive away to be explored. Needs a bit of a general spruce up/spring clean. Could do with a more general pub menu.

The cottage was delightful. Cosy and traditional with a log burning stove. We booked this cottage as Mike is disabled, and although he can walk short distances he is a wheelchair user. The cottage had easy access and all on the grpund floor and lebel. The tiled slaye floors made for easy wheelchair use.The adapted bathroom with large shower, raised toilet and grab rails was excellent. Good quality beds and mattresses and linen made for a good nights sleep. We took our Dandie Dinmont terrier... Captain..with us he really enjoyed the cottage which had its own enclosed side patio, so he could wander in and out safely! Woof! The staff were very attentive and friendly..excellent! The setting is seculed, just what we wanted, but with easy access to beautiful coastal and countryside. Would definitely recommend. We hope to return soon!

Very enjoyable stay. Clean comfortable quiet animal friendly escape. Restaurant would benefit from a mid priced menu if only at lunch time.
