Description

This spacious converted barn in the Brecon Beacons National Park is a great holiday base with activities and attractions nearby.

Ty Gwilym Barn nestles in a peaceful courtyard in Llangorse village. Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the barn oozes character including exposed beams, stonework and many original features. The owners, who live close by, have furnished and presented this spacious holiday home beautifully and it also enjoys views of open meadows and of Myndd Troed. Ty Gwilym is very conveniently situated, tucked away from the main village but with two pubs within a very short walking distance. Its doorstep amenities, as well as peace and quiet make it the perfect holiday base with lots of activities and attractions nearby.
Llangorse lies in the crook of the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. With its stunning lake and breathtaking scenery, it’s a perfect setting for both the very active and those who prefer a more gentle and relaxing holiday. In high season, the lake offers fishing, rowing boats, canoe and kayak hire, while the Llangorse Activity Centre offers climbing, sky trekking and horse riding. A walker’s haven; public footpaths lead directly from Ty Gwilym and within easy driving distance, there are more challenging walks such as Offa’s Dyke, Pen y Fan, Sugar Loaf Mountain and Hay Bluff.
Ty Gwilym Barn is a peaceful retreat central to a wide variety of cultural and outdoor pursuits that the area is famous for. The major festivals at Hay-on-Wye, Brecon and Abergavenny are all within easy reach. Shop 3 miles, pub 200 yards.

I can not praise the property enough. When we walked through the door we found there was a home made cake and not one but two bottles of wine, along with fresh flowers to greet us. There was also a personalised message on a board welcoming us to Ty Gwilym. The property is beautifully and tastfully decorated. The beds were comfy the sitting room was large enough for the six of us with ample seating The property owner called on us to make sure that we had everything we wanted. Would we stay here again...in a flash.

We visited as a group of 6 and were thrilled with the converted barn and friendliness of the neighbours. There are lovely personal touches throughout such as a blackboard with a welcoming message, a home made cake, wine (although we didn't have the latter as we had so much of our own!) chocolates and drinking water and glasses in each bedroom. All very luxurious touches along with good quality hand soap in the bathrooms. The area is lovely and the 2 village pubs are great for food and drink although the Castle Inn we would recommend more as the food was nicer and the service quicker. Again all staff friendly and welcoming. You definately need to book a table in advance for food as although the Red Lion has sufficient tables, they are not all used and we had a very long wait. A truly brilliant weekend, with the most amazing accommodation....we met the owners in the pub and they are lovely and we will absolutely be back.

Lovely spacious barn conversion. Only slight down side not really any outside private space to relax.

Absolutely fantastic long weekend break. Perfect if you want to relax in idillic surroundings. Alina, the owner, was very welcoming and her homemade bara brith was perfect on arrival. 10 out of 10, will definitely go back.

From start to finish out stay at Ty Gwilym was fantastic! The cottage had everything we needed, from the fluffy, fresh towels to a bottle of red wine on our arrival! The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The main sights like Pen y Fan were about a 25 minute drive away and the lake was a quick walk down the lane, everything we needed for a active weekend. We particularly enjoyed the pie selection at the local Castle Inn pub. Will definitely rebook for another weekend in the beacons!

Lovely barn conversion. Only slight critisism would be it sleeps 6 but only 5 seats in the living room and we struggled to get 6 showers out of the only shower.
