Description

This spacious converted barn in the Brecon Beacons National Park is a great holiday base with activities and attractions nearby.

Ty Gwilym Barn nestles in a peaceful courtyard in Llangorse village. Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the barn oozes character including exposed beams, stonework and many original features. The owners, who live close by, have furnished and presented this spacious holiday home beautifully and it also enjoys views of open meadows and of Myndd Troed. Ty Gwilym is very conveniently situated, tucked away from the main village but with two pubs within a very short walking distance. Its doorstep amenities, as well as peace and quiet make it the perfect holiday base with lots of activities and attractions nearby.
Llangorse lies in the crook of the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. With its stunning lake and breathtaking scenery, it’s a perfect setting for both the very active and those who prefer a more gentle and relaxing holiday. In high season, the lake offers fishing, rowing boats, canoe and kayak hire, while the Llangorse Activity Centre offers climbing, sky trekking and horse riding. A walker’s haven; public footpaths lead directly from Ty Gwilym and within easy driving distance, there are more challenging walks such as Offa’s Dyke, Pen y Fan, Sugar Loaf Mountain and Hay Bluff.
Ty Gwilym Barn is a peaceful retreat central to a wide variety of cultural and outdoor pursuits that the area is famous for. The major festivals at Hay-on-Wye, Brecon and Abergavenny are all within easy reach. Shop 3 miles, pub 200 yards.

Lovely barn conversion. Only slight critisism would be it sleeps 6 but only 5 seats in the living room and we struggled to get 6 showers out of the only shower.

Upon arrival at the property, we found it to be exactly as the photos (although it could be said that they really don't do it justice !) - simply stunning. Lovely welcome pack, including a simply scrumptious fruit cake - fantastic ! Lovely and clean, easy instructions on everything, great location, superb couple of pubs in the village........ possibly the best place we've stayed in yet. Can't say enough good about the place, and also the terrific communication from Alina, the owner. Get yourself booked in here if you like fresh air, good local pubs/ales/food, and walking in brilliant surroundings - all along with a very lovely owner who we unfortunately didn't actually get to meet face-to-face (although it felt like I'd known her for years when we spoke on the phone).

Absolutely fantastic cottage. We stayed here last January 2015 and knew we'd come back this year. Everything you need is here and the owner is so welcoming and helpful. If you need anything she's just a phone call away. There are 2 lovely pubs in the village which serve exceptional food and are very friendly. Definitely booking to come next January.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you to all our guests for their generous and very constructive feedback. Since taking ownership of Ty Gwilym in June 2015, we have welcomed all feedback whether it is through Reevoo, the Guest Book or spontaneous comments made when meeting guests during their stay. We have listened and used this feedback as a platform to make some subtle but effective improvements to the ambience and the character of the Barn. In response to Shelo's comments about the photos on the website, in November 2015 we updated our photos and now feel they provide a true representation of some of the changes at Ty Gwilym. Unfortunately, with regards to Ray's comment, there is not much we can do about adding a garden; however the whole area is a wonderful garden to explore and we feel privileged to have such a beautiful natural environment on the doorstep. Thank you again for all the kind comments and we encourage all future guests to provide us with helpful feedback to ensure that all expectations are met during their stay at Ty Gwilym.

We received a very warm welcome from Alina at Ty Gwilym (the Welsh cakes were delicious!) with the offer of assistance if we needed anything else. It was a beautiful barn in a lovely area - we couldn't have asked for anything better. The barn had everything that we, a family of 4, could have wanted. Alina even posted things back to us that my forgetful daughter left behind. We would definitely recommend and would love to visit again.
