Description

Peaceful rural location for this character cottage, with feature stone fireplace with wood burning stove, Bardsey Island nearby.

Set in a peaceful, rural location

Situated on the Llyn Peninsula, in a peaceful, rural location with views of the nearby Garn Fadryn mountain. These Grade ll listed, converted and beautifully refurbished barns still feature original beams and the wonderfully converted holiday farmhouses are set in an ideal location for walking and exploring beautiful Llyn. Within the grounds, there is a private, large coarse fishing lake which is well-stocked with carp. Fishing on the lake is free of charge on a catch and release basis (equipment and rod licence required). The picturesque Porth Dinllaen is just a short distance away, as is the beach at Porth Oer, or Whistling Sands, so called because the rounded grains of sand squeak when walked upon. For those with a love of the sea, a trip to Bardsey Island, reputedly the home of twenty thousand saints, is an exciting way to appreciate this coastline. Within easy reach are the towns of Aberdaron, Abersoch, Pwllheli, Criccieth with its castle perched almost on the beach or Porthmadog, home of the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railways. Horse riding nearby. Ideal for golf. Shop and pub 3 miles. 25096, 24665 and 24666 can be booked together to accommodate up to 14 guests.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with tiled floor. Kitchen with tiled floor. 1 bunk bedroom. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Beams throughout.

Woodburner in living room (no fuel provided). Oil central heating and towels included. Private large enclosed lawned garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Ample parking.

All properties: Electricity and bed linen included. Travel cot. Freeview TV. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Barbecue. Course-fishing lake in grounds, foc (equipment and rod licence required). No smoking. NB: Fenced fishing lake in grounds.

While the location is lovely and quiet and pretty much what you'd expect from a cottage I did feel the drive down to it was a bit daunting, blind bend then narrow overgrown drive to the cottage gates did worry about scratches to the car. The cottage smelt damp and was full of cobwebs and spiders in the doorways again expected in a cottage but wud have been a quick fix if checked before we arrived! Some dust in bedrooms and a used contact lens on the dressing table in master bedroom! Strong smell of dogs when sat in living room area. Also washing mashine and outside washing line available but no washing powder or liquid which is fine but could have put that info when booked so could have brought some, however the cupboard that the washer was in smelt so bad we did not open it for the rest of the week and the washing line was so dirty you wouldn't put clean washing on it (not prepared to scrub down a rotary line while meant to be on holiday) Kitchen was missing a few basics like oven trays and kitchen scissors, the pedal on the bin was broken and no bin bags once the bin had been emptied. Only small things but for the money we paid wudnt have taken much to clean and provide basics.
