Peaceful rural location for this character cottage, with feature stone fireplace with wood burning stove, Bardsey Island nearby.

Set in a peaceful, rural location

Situated on the Llyn Peninsula, in a peaceful, rural location with views of the nearby Garn Fadryn mountain. These Grade ll listed, converted and beautifully refurbished barns still feature original beams and the wonderfully converted holiday farmhouses are set in an ideal location for walking and exploring beautiful Llyn. Within the grounds, there is a private, large fly-fishing lake which is well-stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Fishing on the lake is free of charge on a catch and release basis (equipment and rod licence required). The picturesque Porth Dinllaen is just a short distance away, as is the beach at Porth Oer, or Whistling Sands, so called because the rounded grains of sand squeak when walked upon. For those with a love of the sea, a trip to Bardsey Island, reputedly the home of twenty thousand saints, is an exciting way to appreciate this coastline. Within easy reach are the towns of Aberdaron, Abersoch, Pwllheli, Criccieth with its castle perched almost on the beach or Porthmadog, home of the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railways. Horse riding nearby. Ideal for golf. Shop and pub 3 miles. 25096, 24665 and 24666 can be booked together to accommodate up to 14 guests.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Large private gardens, with access to a private fishing lake with hens patrolling the edge - the kids loved it!. The cottage was comfortable and reasonably well equipped. Great views of Garnfadryn hill rising from the back of the house, with sheep grazing in the field right up to the hedge behind. Family eating is available at the Y Bryncynan Inn, and more upmarket food at the Ship Inn in Edern - both around 10-15 minutes drive from the cottage. Would definitely return.

Lovely cottage, very comfy beds and sofas. Wonderful log burner in lounge. Well equipped kitchen. The fishing lake was a big hit; fish were caught every day, even with a chicken sitting on a lap! Very nice enclosed garden for the dogs and kids to play with gorgeous scenery. Very handy location for north and south villages on the Lleyn peninsula. Owners very helpful, would definitely come here again.

Our requirements were met. It was a pretty rural cottage/ farmhouse, with an enclosed and safe garden for the dogs. The views were of fields and a local hill, very pleasant. The furnishings were tasteful and in keeping with the style of farmhouse. There were plenty of kitchen items for the party size and the equipment was relatively new and worked. Detergents and cleaning products were provided and each bathroom had hand soap and two toilet rolls. The bedrooms upstairs were very attractively furnished and the beds were comfy. Like many properties the bathroom and shower room could benefit from an upgrade but everything worked and the water was hot when needed. We are early risers but the inaccessible central heating controls were set to come on an hour after we got up and it was an exceptionally cold April week at night especially. We would have appreciated being able to alter the timings! Our main disappointment was not with the accommodation but the fact that only one of the pubs within a 20 minute drive was dog friendly and only in a small area of the pub, and that got full very early in the evening so although the property accepted dogs which attracted us (at a fee of £25 each) we were unable to ever eat out as we were not prepared to leave the dogs in the cottage or the car. The beaches generally were empty yet had dog restrictions from 1st April in most cases which seemed bizarre to us as responsible dog owners. There are sheep everywhere thus restricting yet again any walking off lead. None of the cafes we went to allowed dogs in except the Royal Goat in Bedgellert. We travelled to Abersoch and surrounding areas right down to Aberdaron. We were fortunate the weather was fine and allowed us to sit outside in cafes for most of the week. This obviously affected the overall enjoyment of our holiday and it is worth mentioning such restrictions for dogs in the details of properties on the website.
