Description

Impressive Grade II listed Georgian town house with cliff top garden which enjoys 180 degree views of Scarborough’s North Bay.

Breathtaking sea views of both the North and South Bays can be enjoyed from nearly all the rooms in this imposing Grade II listed Georgian town house which is peacefully situated on the headland under the shadow of Scarborough’s historic castle and opposite St Mary’s church, the final resting place of Anne Brontë. Whilst retaining many original features, the house has been refurbished to an exceptional standard, with hand-built oak kitchen, Travertine marble tiles, a magnificent raised bath and spectacular cliff top garden with 180-degree North Bay and castle views, and a hot tub. Positioned just a 5-minute walk from the heart of the town and a 10-minute walk from the beach, this makes a perfect holiday base for exploring Britain’s first seaside resort with its sandy, accredited North Bay beach, award-winning Sea Life Marine Sanctuary and working harbour with small fishing fleet, and South Beach where there are boat trips around the bay and a great choice of restaurants, bars and traditional seaside stalls. Music lovers can visit the Spa Complex, home of the only remaining seaside orchestra or Peasholm Park which offers open air concerts and a variety of family activities, and the famous Stephen Joseph Theatre, provides excellent evening entertainment. Further north along the Heritage coast lie the smugglers’ coves of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park is easily accessible with its steam railway, quaint villages and stunning scenery. Shop and pub 220 yards.

Me and my 7 friends stayed here and loved it beautiful place . Amazing house, only bit of criticism is the decking out side is a death trap so slippy and no light near the hot tub everything else was prefect .

I booked this holiday for myself and 9 others for my sisters 30th birthday party, a few days before we went I read a review that didn't put the house in the best light. I can honestly say that the reviewer couldn't have been more wrong everything from the moment we picked up the keys was amazing! The lady caretaker was very lovely and welcoming. The house was equipped with everything that you could have needed from a formal dinner party to a low key BBQ. The rooms were very comfortable and all of a very decent size and excellent standard and finish. From the front of the house you look out over south bay with the castle to your left and from the back you look out over South Bay, both views are amazing. The hot tub provided many hours of fun and laughs in the garden and the weather was the cherry on the top. I would 100% recomend this rental both for family getaways and girly weekends. We will definitely be going back.

Stayed for a week with family ranging from 2yrs to 75. The house was ideal. Large enough so we all had our own space. Set over lots of floors it wasn't ideal for anybody with mobility problems. 3 bedrooms on the top floor with no toilet on that level for instance but it was only a small problem. The kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfy. The highlight was the location. Close to the centre we didn't use our cars for the whole week. The views from the garden were beautiful. The hotub was well used but could have done with a clean midway through the week as by the Thursday it was not nice! We would love to come back and would have already booked for next year but the price has gone up by £800 a 30% increase. Bit too steep in my opinion which is a real shame as I am sure we would have been annual customers. Really lovely house if you can afford it.

Great place, lovely views, first class equipment. Needs a bit of TLC in certain areas to bring it back to magnificent.

The location is great and from viewing the pictures expectations were high. However the cleanliness and upkeep of this property is by no means to a high standard and badly lets it down. It is in dire need of a deep clean which you should get from a property in this price bracket. Cobwebs are a common theme, an unpleasant suprise in one of the toilets on arrival to name a couple of examples. There is also decking in the garden which is very slippery due to moss growth, again needs a jet wash, my 3 year old slipped over hurting himself on a couple of occasions. I could go on and on. Although our holiday was enjoyable I would not go back to this house due to these issues.

Great house in fantastic location but is let down on lack of cleanliness & non repair of some basic maintenance. Is very well equipped & has been finished to a lovely standard in most aspects but the final "spit & polish" is missing which would make this house fabulous. Did have a great holiday but not sure I would be happy to pay peak school holiday prices to stay here.

Fantastic views of north & south bay, very spacious & well equipped, great hot tub & garden area. Everything we needed in the kitchen & fab bathrooms, loved the underfloor heating in the bathrooms. 5 mins walk to seafront on south bay, loved it & would definitely stay there again
