We had a fantastic week here. The cottage was very comfortable and homely and we looked forward each evening to returning there after wonderful days out in the beautiful and interesting surrounding areas. All the cottages in this group face inwards on to a central courtyard which did put us off sitting out but that is only because we are not particularly sociable people! I am sure this arrangement is enjoyed by others who are more outgoing than we are. I highly recommend this cottage and its location.

This is a really pretty and peaceful location, a perfect base to explore south Devon and Dorset. The cottage is well laid out, clean and very well equipped. The only thing personal to us that wasn't perfect was having to duck under the beams - anyone around 5'11" or under would never notice this though. We had a really enjoyable and relaxed stay.

We felt well looked after and loved the location. The children appreciated the field to play in and nearness to many interesting places.

Cottage was very nice with period features well furnished and equipped Or only concern was the lack of good heating the bathroom heater only worked for a few minutes before switching it self of there was only 1 night storage heater in the lounge and the electric wall heater in the master bedroom did not give of alot of heat and was very noisy. There was a log burning stove but when we lit this it smoked alot and we did not use it again I told the owner as the seal on top off the chimney also leaked smoke.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. We apologise about the problem with the log burner but we were not notified of the problem until the end of your stay. We did immediately look at this on the Sunday when you departed and found that part of the internal structure was displaced. We immediately contacted the company who are responsible for the upkeep of our log burners who are coming this week to rectify this. We were unable to speak to you on your arrival as there was no answer when we knocked on the door. The next morning my husband knocked on the door to check if everything was ok and no problems were mentioned. I wish you had mentioned the problem with the bedroom heater as we could have had an electrician deal with it quite quickly now we know! The living room felt sufficiently warm to us when we went in there after your departure. We could have provided a portable heater if you had told us that you felt chilly. The bathroom heater on the wall switches off automatically when the temperature reaches the same level as the rest of the cottage. You did mention this to my husband who told you about the temperature control. In our welcome letter we stress that guests should contact us straight away if they encounter any problems and we will do our best to rectify them as soon as possible.

A really super little cottage and very welcome box of M & S biscuits and Christmas greetings. Clean, comfortable and well located. The open fire and stock of logs were an added bonus and the beautiful gardens and peaceful location just perfect. We would have welcomed a few more items of cutlery and no one was available to deal with the towel hire (maybe I should have booked these in advance!). There was thoughtful attention to detail in every other aspect of our visit.
