Description

Tastefully decorated property well located in the centre of Ulverston – a bustling market town close to the Lakes, Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel and Kendal.

This charming holiday cottage is situated on a quiet corner in the heart of the ancient market town of Ulverston. It offers quick and easy access to the many delights of Ulverston, home to the start of the Cumbria Way, with its old pubs, excellent restaurants and the twice-weekly market which is not to be missed. The Lake District National Park, Eskdale Railway, the World of Beatrix Potter and the Furness Coast are all within easy reach, as well as Lake Windermere and Lake Coniston which are 12 miles away. Ulverston has a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, a cinema and a leisure centre. Today it’s well known as a festival town with events throughout the year, including walking and art festivals in the summer months and the renowned Dickensian festival in late November. One of the town’s great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel. Whilst many Lakeland destinations have been developed beyond recognition, Ulverston still has an authentic feel and community spirit. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. Bardsea and Askam beach are nearby, as is Dalton Zoo and the Dock Museum in Barrow. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good bird watching. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston and popular Birkrigg Common, with its incredible panoramic views across Morecambe Bay. This is a wonderful holiday location for family and friends to get away from it all. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Separate toilet. First floor: 2 double bedrooms (one 5ft), one with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity and bed linen included. Travel cot. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric hob. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Small courtyard with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (1 car). Cycle store. Welcome pack. No smoking.

Great cottage in a handy location. So close to shops, pubs and easy access out into the Lake District. Only slightly marked this down due to tricky parking (with a bigger car it could have been much more difficult) and there was a bit of noise from the main road. Bedrooms and bathrooms were fantastic!

A very comfortable and well appointed cottage. It's right next to the town so there's easy access to Ulverston's amenities. The only down-side is that being close to town also means it can be a little noisy with traffic at night, especially in summer with the windows open! The owners met us when we arrived and there were nice touches like fresh flowers in the sitting room. We enjoyed our stay and would return. It's rare to find a rental cottage that is decorated so that it feels like a home :)

Train station very near to cottage, the town within walking distance and plenty going on throughout the year.

The location is fantastic - and I would definitely recommend it to any party of 4 (potentially 5, if the landlord is ok with it as there is plenty of sofa / floor space downstairs). The cottage itself, was perfect for our needs and the central heating was easy to operate (very important after spending a day out in the lake district!) The only reason I give it a 9 and not a 10 for comfort and equipment, is because although there are two showers, when both are in use it compromises the pressure of the water.
