This beautiful house is perfect for families or groups of friends, close to Talisker distillery and inn serving food.

Trien Lodge is a spacious, detached and well-equipped holiday house, furnished to a very good standard to ensure a great holiday experience. Located in the coastal village of Carbost on the Minginish Peninsula, with stunning views over Loch Harport and the Cuillin, Trien Lodge is a short walk into the village where you have a shop/post office, Talisker distillery, Skye’s only distillery, and an inn which serves food all day and has regular live music. The walking is superb for all levels– Talisker Bay, Glenbrittle Beach, Fairy Pools and the Cuillin for the experienced climbers and so much more. A trip to Dunvegan Castle and the coral beach, Neist Point Lighthouse or the beautiful Waternish peninsula are all recommended and are all on the west side of the island. Portree, the bustling main town, is where you can take a stroll down to the harbour and watch the fishing vessels unload their catch of the day. Take a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life and also enjoy the beauty of the rugged coastline. To the north of Portree, is the Trotternish Peninsula, which boasts some of Skye’s most stunning scenery. To the south of the island is Broadford, where you will find ‘The Garden of Skye’. Trien Lodge suited us perfectly. I would have scored it 10/10 on all measures but for the fact that it is a little further from the Carbost Inn than we had anticipated. In all other respects the location is excellent with views at the front of the loch and to the rear of the Cuillins. The house itself is very well equipped and more spacious than it appears from the photos.

All the arrival arrangements worked fine and straightforward. It is a modern cottage with plenty of space, a great kitchen. There are lots of topical books, a TV and a selection of DVDs to keep you well entertained not that we had much time for that. The wifi worked great although there was an island problem with the internet for a couple of days which did impact card purchases. The garden table and chairs are a nice suntrap at the back. The showers were excellent. It is worth noting that the cottage is a round trip of 3 miles to the pub and distillery. The views from the front over the bay were magnificent and from the kitchen you can see the weather on the Cuillins. We saw plenty of that.

Fantastic property. Plenty of room for 4 of us and plenty of hot water for the showers which was appreciated after a long day out. The fridge may be a little small for 8 but for 4 it was fine. Great location.

A modern spacious property. We found it to be very well equipped, particularly the kitchen. Plus a great selection of books on Skye and Scotland.

Wonderful location with view of Cuillin; convenient for Glenbrittle, Sligachan, Portree, Dunvegan as well as Oyster Bar in Carbost. Excellent bedrooms all en-suite. Kitchen well-appointed although it is worth searching for items. There could be more space for food storage, particularly vegetables. Dining room very useful as adjacent to kitchen. There were only four of us; interested to see how eight would cope (although aware that table extended). It would have been nice to know that we were meant to provide our own towels, but we obtained these from the caretakers. There is something wrong with the DVD player which only works in monochrome (not that we spend much time watching this). Would recommend thoroughly.

Cottage looked better in real life than from the photos. Really spacious, loads of bathrooms, good car parking, lovely views, nice and close to the Church, distillery and pub! This was a really comfortable cottage and a great place to be based for a week exploring Skye.
