Description

From its wonderful elevated position, The Linhay overlooks an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

These beautifully converted stone barns (refs GTM and GTN), adjacent to the owners’ home, are set between the picturesque villages of Altarnun and Polyphant. Both properties combine mellow stone walls and old beams, have well-equipped kitchens and their own garden with furniture, patio and barbecue. The holiday cottages have an elevated position overlooking an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and provide an excellent centre for exploring the coastal paths and moors of both Devon and Cornwall. The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and several magnificent National Trust houses and gardens are within easy reach, as well the fascinating seaside villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac and the food capital of Cornwall, Padstow. An Ordinance Survey walk passes right by the cottages and the area is a walkers’ paradise. The historic market town of Launceston, 5 miles, offers supermarkets, shops, a castle and sports facilities. Plymouth and its many attractions is 25 miles away. The area has a growing reputation for good pubs, restaurants, farm shops and locally produced food. Admired golf courses, fishing, horse riding and cycle ways can be found nearby. Shops and pub 2 miles.

‘Upside-down’ style property. Upper ground floor: Large, double-aspect living room with wood-burning stove and views over garden. Spacious, beamed kitchen/dining room with high pitched ceiling, exposed stone walls and door to patio and garden. Double bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Lower ground floor: Hall. Very spacious and comfortable cottage, lovely outdoor space as well which I'm sure would be lovely in the summer. We visited in the winter and did find the downstairs bedrooms cold so might be worth packing a fan heater. Only real complaint was it advertises having Wifi but the hub is in the neighbouring cottage and we hardly ever had a signal. Would happily use the cottage again.

Lovely cottage in a very rural location, the lane up is a little treacherous but once there, beautiful inside & out. Great amenities, plenty of space, shame no woodburner. The wifi wasn't up to scratch either (didn't get it all time was there) & due to location your signal will be next to nothing. Convenient place to explore, went to port isaac but would recommend you travel there really early as got extremely busy.Plymouth was an hour away. Good route in. Local pub was chic, however food & service not the best value, however the local Chinese & Indian were very good. Owners very nice, lovely welcome & cream tea on arrival.

Lovely quaint house in a very rural area of Cornwall. Lots of space in the house and a lovely garden. House was quite cold but that's what you expect I guess from an old stone barn!
