The main selling point of Tregolva is the breathtaking view that it offers of the whole of Looe. It was a lovely house although I would say that some of the furniture needed replacing and it was not well equipped in terms of basics such as oil, salt, toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, etc. Although we were warned beforehand about the narrow and steep lane to the house, it was still a bit of a shock, so I would advise everyone but the driver getting out of the car before you attempt it and also to really rev up and go for it or you will stall your car. But once we got the hang of it, it was absolutely fine. Looe and the surrounding area are stunning and we would definitely come again.

Although we knew the property was on a narrow lane we weren't informed on booking that it was also extremely steep and difficult to drive up and park. We are both good drivers and not nervous but this road was awful to negotiate we have a new fiesta and it nearly burnt the clutch out. This must be on the booking site. The front concrete yard was slippery due to algae. The view from the cottage was amazing and the bed was very comfortable and clean but the house was dusty and the recliners broken also the bath panel was loose and the curtains in bedroom had come off the track. All could be rectified but this was listed as a luxury accommodation.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The description of the access on the website has been amended. However, it is worth mentioning that the vast majority of guests in vehicles ranging from estates to people carriers, have navigated the lane. In addition, the residents of the lane drive up and down this road many times a day. It is a Cornwall lane, which are known to be steep and narrow. The property manager offers to drive all new guests to the house. Guests are given the opportunity to gauge if they are comfortable navigating the lane. For those not comfortable driving along narrow lanes, alternative parking can be found in Looe, including free on street parking. Thank you for bringing the other issues to our attention. The concrete yard has been treated as part of the regular maintenance program and the curtains have been fixed. Unfortunately the recliners have been damaged beyond repair; leather footstools are available at the property. The condition of the bath panel has been checked. Finally, cleanliness of the property is extremely important to us and we are surprised by the dust comment. We will continue to make cleanliness a top priority.

Amazing location and superb views, hard to beat, we had a great holiday. A delightful house and a great central location for walking and travelling to hidden coves. Some things let the house down - beautiful curtains in the bedrooms but such a shame they haven't been hung properly. The outside area towards the steps is very slippery when wet due to a build up of slime. The hill was a shock but my husband likes a challenge. We would recommend for safety reasons that other passengers in the car get out to lighten the load - you need one person to walk up the hill to make sure it's clear, one person half way down (on the tight bend) to instruct the driver, otherwise it's an accident waiting to happen. You need a powerful vehicle and to be a confident driver. On the way down be careful not to scrape your bumper - sports cars and other cars with body kits will be in trouble due to the steepness.

Wow. Stunning views overlooking the harbour. Local shops nearby. Just watch out for that driveway.

Tregolva is a lovely property and we have now stayed there twice, both times out of peak season, as it feels like home from home and the view from the cottage out over Looe harbour is stunning, so enjoying some relaxing time if the weather is poor, is ideal. However the access road to the property is extremely steep, fairly narrow and has a sharp bend part way up, so very difficult to access. We did drive up on our first visit but did some minor damage to out car, so after out first journey from the cottage we then left our car in the main car park, which is not too far away. For our second stay we did not even try to drive up the access road and left our car in the car park all week, but the effort carrying everything up to the cottage is a little too much and in the end outweighs the benefit of staying there. If you are planning to arrive by something like public transport, so would have walked to the cottage, then it is a lovely place.

The view from the cottage is fantastic and it is the highlight. With this comes the narrow steep drive up but after the first go, for any competent driver it becomes easier. However should you choose to park in Looe we found Mill Pool car park behind the amusement arcade reasonable and at time of print was £2.40 for 24 hours. For fish and chips try the Coddy Shack take away/restaurant, about 5 mins drive out, on the main road to Liskeard and we also ate in the Old Sail Loft and Papa Nino. The last two more expensive but all served very good food. Advisable to pre-book. Looe is a lovely fishing harbour and there are plenty of interesting places to visit nearby, as well as the South West Coast Path. Overall it is a great place to visit in Cornwall and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Looe and the cottage.

amazing location beautiful property very well equipped just booked for a return visit (cant wait to go back) only a couple of things let it down could have been cleaner and only 6 squares of toilet paper in the bathroom after a 7 hour trip with three kids not good !!! was expecting a little more of a welcome pack as it was very basic to other cottages we have stayed in. But you cannot get away from the fact the view is simply stunning and the local area is very beautiful and the people very friendly.

One of the best views in town, so you expect a steep hill, but manageable in a front drive Skoda Yeti without any problems. Easy access to some good walks and to the train for travelling up the valley to Liskeard. House has a modern interior and very comfortable. You will keep fit staying here with the walk up the hill, but the views make it worthwhile.
