Enjoy views of the famous Pitchford Tree House (the oldest in the world), or explore the surrounding area with Ludlow close by.

Peacefully situated within the extensive grounds of the Pitchford Estate, these four properties offer superb holiday accommodation. The Generals Quarters (UKC2646) is named after a previous owner of the hall, General Grant. Guests will be accommodated in the West Wing, which is the oldest part of the hall, constructed in 1549, and the Hall’s Northern Range. The accommodation will be based on The Tudors and the late Georgian period. Guests will notice the two distinct periods as they move around the Generals Quarters, and will be able to decide which period rooms they wish to sleep in.
Windy Mundy Farm (RNG) has been converted from an 18th-century threshing barn and deer shelter and is located on an old deer park at the centre of the estate. Built on top of a south-facing hill overlooking Row Brook, and part of a working arable farm, it is surrounded by fields of wheat and barley and has spectacular, far-reaching views towards the Shropshire hills. Enclosed by a long stone wall, the farm has its own courtyard garden with a terrace and barbecue.
Stockbatch Granary (RJ6) is reached by a mile-long drive passing through the mixed arable land of Stockbatch Farm, with its fields of corn encircled by woodland. It comprises an 18th-century granary, clapperboard barn, stables and cowsheds, and nestles on a south-facing slope, at the bottom of which a stream wends its way gently along. A courtyard garden enclosed by a red sandstone wall provides a pleasant sitting-out area from which to survey the countryside views.
Tree House Barn (RDDJ) is a sensitively restored detached barn conversion which enjoys views of the world famous Pitchford Tree House (the oldest tree house in the world).
Within 6 miles of each property is historic Shrewsbury with its fascinating architecture, castle, museums, fine shops and wealth of traditional inns and restaurants. Easily accessible is popular Church Stretton, and Shropshire’s finest town Ludlow, framed by the gentle Clee Hills, with its impressive castle, magnificent church, many half-timbered buildings and Georgian red-brick houses. Bridgnorth has what is reputed to be the steepest cliff railway in Britain and superb cliff-top walks overlooking the River Severn below. From here, during summer, the Severn Valley Railway’s steam train chugs the scenic 16-mile route to Kidderminster. Attingham Park (National Trust), Benthall Hall (National Trust), Ironbridge Gorge and the old market town of Much Wenlock (with its medieval priory) are all within easy driving distance. Riding, sailing, fishing, golf, pubs and restaurants locally. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 5 miles.
Tree House Barn (RDDJ), Stockbatch Granary (RJ6), Windy Mundy Farm (RNG) and The Generals Quarters (UKC2646) can be booked together to accommodate up to 48 guests.

    Superb location and ideally placed for exploring Shropshire. Very good for dog owners with fenced off garden and walks from the door. Background lighting only in lounge made relaxing with a book difficult.

    Ideal location for anyone who wants to get away from it all. Safe garden for our large dog,small dogs may get through railings. If there were 4 of you an extra armchair would be useful. Looking forward to going again.

    The barn conversion is very beautiful. The kitchen equipment is extensive. The flooring is superb. The location is pure magic, so very peaceful. It is a fantastic location for walking and cycling. The bath and shower facilities are lovely. However, 3 out of 4 of the tall seats in the kitchen didn't work; as you sat on them they sank to a level too low to reach your drink/food. It is a beautiful contemporary building but the furniture is a load of antiques which have limited practical use. It accommodates 4 people and there is a two-seater settee and an armchair. 3 people could sit on the settee in a line and would fit though but 1 would fall into the crack of the 2 cushions. There is no wardrobe, nowhere to put suitcases, shoes. There is only drawer space. Sadly there is no Wi-Fi and no mobile phone signal on either of our phones so we couldn't contact house-keeping to advise them of our problems. Nowhere to put toothbrushes/paste and toiletries. The TV kept cutting out and losing signal, sometimes 3 or 4 times in 10 minutes - we gave up on that. Lots of websites were recommended for eating out but there was no access to internet there. There were a few little things like a missing handle of a chest of drawers, seals hanging off the shower, the shower doesn't drain very well and you are standing in water 2 inches deep, the smell of cooking fat when you opened the drawers in the kitchen, a cracked window in the bedroom, cheap quality twin beds in the other bedroom, the iron was unusable as it had a large sharp chip at the pointed end and had some black stuff stuck to the bottom. There were locked tall cupboards in the one bedroom which we thought was the hanging space but it must have housed the boiler. It certainly wasn't luxury and not value for money and would have been better priced around £450 for the quality. Having said all of that we don't regret it.

    The barn was a delight and its location couldn't have been better for de-stressing and getting away from it all yet we were only a short drive from Shrewsbury town centre and all of its many attractions. We would recommend the barn to everyone but please don't all book up as we would like to stay there again and again.....
