Description

Situated in the Central Wolds rich in the limestone that provides so much material for buildings and dry-stone walls alike, this lovely 300-year-old detached barn has been carefully renovated to provide a spacious and highly desirable holiday property

Situated in the Central Wolds rich in the limestone that provides so much material for buildings and dry-stone walls alike, this lovely 300-year-old detached barn has been carefully renovated to provide a spacious and highly desirable holiday property. It has achieved a ‘Fields of Opportunity’ award for ‘Best Converted Barn Holiday Let’. Located in a small secluded valley that has been farmed by the same family for generations, the property derives its name from a popular first name within the family over that time, including the present one. With an air of timelessness and the unspoilt nature of this small Cotswold hamlet, it is hard to believe that it lies just 6 miles from the centre of Cheltenham. The town boasts a state-of-the-art cinema complex, two renowned theatres, public gardens, a famous race course - site of the Gold Cup in March - and a wealth of restaurants, specialist food shops and excellent shopping in general. Cheltenham is a superb base from which to explore the full breadth of the Cotswold countryside, its villages, historic houses and internationally famous gardens such as Kiftsgate and Hidcote Manor. With excellent walking opportunities, three excellent golf courses within a few minutes’ drive and the chance to visit the many picturesque villages of the locality, including Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, and the many old inns that abound within an easy drive, this is an ideal spot for a country holiday with a difference. Perfectly sized and located for our extended family of 10 to meet up. The kids absolutely loved the trampoline and the large dining table and two sitting areas meant people could find their own space for whatever they wanted to do.

We chose Tom's Barn to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday weekend with our family. We were 6 adults and 2 granddaughters aged 2 and 4. The Barn was lovely and from the moment we unlocked the Garden Room door we knew it was right. There are toys aplenty, inside and out, and the attention to detail was first class. We loved the "welcome tray" and every room was perfect.

Absolutely beautiful barn conversion. Spacious, luxuriously appointed and well equipped. Somehow manages to combine a feeling of total luxury and homeliness at the same time. A group of 9 female friends had a wonderful weekend, and we would thoroughly recommend Tom's Barn.

Fabulous holiday home; perfect for a group of long standing 'wrinkly' friends who meet up at least once a year. The house is welcoming and warm (we stayed in November) and impeccably clean. Comfy beds and as each bedroom has its own bathroom, no queuing for the loo or shower! Only a wee thing (and it is a wee thing!) is that there is no cupboard space for food. We ended up having our store cupboard on a side table borrowed from another room. The location is stunning, especially if you enjoy walking, with lovely views from just about every window. The offset lounge area is perfect for being all together, or for those in the party needing a little own space, without resorting to going to their room. The Kitchen Diner is a joy, as is the addition of the Hostess trolley when catering for larger numbers. The acid test - would we go back? Sure would ......
