Description

Toes Rock Cottage offers accommodation all on the ground floor. It’s in a glorious location, just 10 miles from Haverfordwest.

Nestling just 200 yards from a little cove leading to a wide sandy beach with rock pools at low tide, a range of traditional farm buildings have been lovingly converted to create seven delightfully bright and very comfortable cottages. Decorations and a tree are provided for Christmas and New Year bookings. Furnished in smart modern style yet retaining much local charm and individuality, they sit within the Pembrokeshire National Park right on the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path – perfect for bird watchers and walkers as well as bucket and spade family holidays. Numerous other prize winning beaches lie within easy reach, dolphins and seals are often spotted in St Bride’s Bay, and riding on the beach at East Nolton is a delight, 7 miles. The area’s water sports are especially good with sea fishing, sailing, diving, surfing and windsurfing at Broad Haven, 5 miles and Dale, 3 miles whilst golf is available at Milford Haven, 6 miles and Haverfordwest – a medieval town just 10 miles distant and home to a castle, good shopping and entertainments – and at St Davids. This tiny jewel of a cathedral city boasts great restaurants and cafés and a major music festival held in May. A cheese farm, woollen mill and lively theme parks are under 20 miles. Golf is within 5 miles of the property. Shops 6 miles, pub 1.5 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room/kitchen. Dining room. 2 double bedrooms. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

All properties: Electric heaters, underfloor central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. High chair. DVD. Microwave. Shared coin-operated tumble dryer. Shared use of freezer. Wi-fi. Lovely location, so close to the estuary and wonderful beach, kids and dogs had a great time. Cottage was spacious and airy but a few down points. Oven had no markings on so practically unusable as cannot see what setting it was on. gardens could be fenced in for kids and dogs. No sharp knives, towels too small for adults. Lots of flies, it is the country so no surprise but maybe some fly killers indoors would be helpful. Beds low and look nice with wood surround but bit hard to get in and out of without knocking shins. Great location and lovely welcome. cottages now 3 star could be 5 star with a little effort. ( bigger tv, better lightshades, eco lightbulbs.. as well as aforementioned issues) The area is great and easy access to haverfordwest for pottery and nolton stables for horse riding . Also so good to have a beach so close , no wet kids and dogs in the car. Just be aware of the tides.

Booked cottage for a trip to Skomer island, fantastic weekend, the caretakers, (sorry can't remember their names) couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Whilst 3 of the party went out on the Saturday leaving 1 at the cottage who has walking difficulties, they went above and beyond to get her different outdoor furniture and a parasol for her comfort and regularly checked and chatted to her. Accommodation was clean and had everything that was required.

The location was good for what we wanted which was access to the Pembrokeshire coast and islands. However there was a constant hum in the cottage (possibly the fridge or an adjoining plant room) which disturbed us at night. The beds were very low to the ground making them unsuitable for older persons and one bedroom was almost entirely filled by the bed leaving only a few inches space between the bed and the walls.

The cottage was rather isolated with sporadic signal and WIFI so you felt quite cut off. The cottage could have been cleaner and warmer. Description of beach and cove not entirely accurate. Would not recommend this cottage.
