Our family of ten enjoyed the house, lots of space Inside and outside. The heating was fine although the hot water was a problem upstairs. Showers kept cutting out and a number of showers had to be finished in cold water... not great in Dec/Jan. Also agree with other reviews that a mirror on the road opposite the drive would be useful.

Spacious and characterful house. Very well equipped. Plenty of room for our party of 9. Heating and water system mastered, if a little temperamental. Towels provided would be a useful addition. Overall a lovely stay, thank you.

Tirril Lodge is a large very spacious house with good road access to the Lake District. The equipment is plentiful and in good condition. Bedrooms are large and well equipped and comfortable. We had a lovely family break and would definitely return for another stay.

This property is good for size but it's quite dirty, it needs a proper full deep clean, the beds are extremely uncomfortable. The grounds are good.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the agency:- We are very sorry to read that you found the property ‘dirty’ and also surprised to see that this was not reported to Cumbrian Cottages during your stay. We have always had excellent comments from previous guests. Unfortunately beds are a very personal preference and sadly we are unable to suit all needs but we will continue to monitor future comments on this. We were pleased to read that you found the grounds of the property nice.

This was a lovely large house for our family of six adults and four children under five. The kitchen is very well equipped - the only thing we lacked was a garlic crusher. The garden was lovely for the children to run around in. Plenty of space indoors with one formal dining room (which we never used), two sitting rooms, one of which we designated a play room (we took toys but there are some there), and a large family breakfast room with wooden floors that are easy to clean after young children have dropped food. A bit of a nuisance having to take towels along with all the other paraphernalia needed for young children but we managed. Vision from the entrance gate is not great - could really do with a mirror on the opposite side of the road. Loads of parking. I could not find a hairdryer there. Fortunately one of our group took one anyway otherwise it would have been a problem.

A good property; larger than our usual type due to large family gathering. IT would be good to know some of the social history of the house. VEry well equipped and comfortable; good selection of books!
