A clean and well equipped cottage, beds lovely and comfortable but furniture downstairs wasn't. Nice pool and boules and tennis areas. We could have done with more mirrors, only one in downstairs bathroom for everyone, and paying for electricity, bedding and towels put the price up. Other than that a good place to stay.

We stayed as a family of 5 and whilst we were met with a friendly welcome, the holiday could have been improved by a few small changes: 1. Warn of the requirement to pay a 200 euro deposit/allow to pay with card; getting 200 euros back the day you leave is not at all useful. 2. There are notices (it is forbidden to flush this/clean the fridge/tidy the bedrooms etc) on crumpled A4 paper all over the property - these should be centralised, properly translated and on clean laminated paper-otherwise you just feel that you are being told off all the time. 3. The additional cost for linen/towels is quite high, especially considering that you have to make and strip the beds by yourself...this makes it feel a bit like a youth hostel type accommodation. You also need to pay for electricity at the end of the week - at around 8 euros it would make sense to me to have a generic amount added on to the bill rather than worry about meter readings. 4. A decent sofa in the sitting area would make a big difference to the comfort of people staying...and the christmas decorations everywhere in August was a little bizarre!! Whilst not a criticism of the accommodation, we stayed with an 8 month old baby and the tiled floors and lack of insulation between the ground and first floor (just floorboards on the wooden beams) meant that it wasn't really suitable for a baby. Plus points were: The bread van delivering fresh croissants/baguettes to the accommodation every morning Lovely quiet rural spot with great views Really friendly caretaker Nice outdoor areas with pingpong etc, pool is ok (note: men need speedo type trunks) Quick trip to lovely boulogne-sur-mer and only a little further to Etaples/Le Touquet In summary, it feels a bit budget (but then it isn't overly expensive) and rustic/basic but is decent, clean accommodation in a lovely rural location. If the owner took a little time to make a nice welcome information pack and take down all the notices/tidy up the leaflets and dodgy decorations it would make a big improvement at no cost. I spent a lot of the week worrying about all the threats about deposits not being returned if the oven/toilet etc wasn't cleaned to the highest standard. One sign said that, if it was cleaned correctly, the deposit would be returned 15 days after departure! However, in reality, the caretaker came to see nothing was broken and returned deposit with no quibble. It puts an unnecessary sour note on the holiday.
