Just two of us on a 3 night break so it was lovely to have such a large cottage to ourselves. We enjoyed great weather so sat in the garden and took photos of the Tor from the lane as the sun set. We didnt fancy cooking so can't really comment about the kitchen equipment ... except perhaps to say a little update here and there would be good...also we all want wifi these days. Some other places (four star) leave a welcome pack which sometimes is a nice touch and some handwash ! so that's needed Mainly though a perfect base and a peaceful roomy cottage. We would come back, the owner was very nice and we thank you.

This cottage is comfortable and warm. It is plenty big with a great garden for children. Very peaceful countryside surroundings with good walks locally. An excellent location for visiting Somerset attractions.

We have loads of friends and family local to this area but wanted our own space and freedom. Tilham Cottage was bang on the mark for where we wanted to be. The positives. Location - although in a very rural setting the cottage is surprisingly accessible for most of our needs. It's about 15 minutes from the Fleet Air Arm Museum and 20 minutes from the Haynes Motor Museum. Likewise for Glastonbury and Street (Clark's Village). The A303 and the M5 are very convenient. We did Lyme Regis in under an hour too. The cottage is really quiet with great views over vale. You can even see the Tor from the front. Wood Burner - The wood fire in the lounge was fantastic and very easy to get going every evening. There are plenty of places to buy cheap logs and kindling so we used it every night. The Negatives. Central Heating - We struggled with the central heating system every evening/night. There seemed to be so many variables to check. Some days we didn't even have heating and had to make do with the log fire in the lounge. We stayed during the late winter months and having the heating on at night would have been desirable but it seemed to go off with no apparent way of getting it on - low pressure in the system may have been the reason. You may want to take additional blankets if you're staying in the colder months. One of the bedrooms had a lot of mould in the wardrobe which meant clothes remained in suitcases. Cleanliness - The kitchen worktops are tiled and the grout was filthy - even growing mould - meaning we had to spray them with bleach. The place seemed generally unkempt. The crunch question - would we stay here again? Definitely! It was perfect for our needs and the price meant we would do it again.
