Did not enjoy the cottage nothing cosy about it and hardly any work surface in the kitchen, bedrooms very basic with cheap horrible furniture. Bathrooms were good but the whole place was very tired and shabby not good value for the money. Also expected you to pay extra for heating. The wood shed was a big disappointment.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I am so sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay in the Woodshed. I was a bit stunned when I saw the rating that you had given us, when we have had so many happy guests, many of whom return to us year after year, and sometimes several times a year. I think that the website presents the cottage honestly, although, sadly, it didn't meet your expectations. All of the furniture can be seen in the photographs, much of it Victorian country pine, and my wife and I think it suits the character of the property. The hanging cupboard in the bedroom was added only recently (it wasn't cheap!), to replace one which we did feel was a bit tired, so I'm sorry that you don't like it. Our other cottage, the Cartshed, was re-roofed and had it's kitchen, bathroom and water system renewed about three years ago, and the Woodshed had its' bathroom and shower room, along with the heating and hot water system, completely refurbished more recently. The kitchen is next to be done, when we hope to extend the work-surface.We intend also to renew the bedroom carpets this Spring. We do continue to replace and repair as we think appropriate and necessary, while trying to keep our prices reasonable. We are in a great location for the coast, Southwold, Walberswick, Aldeburgh, R.S.P.B. Minsmere, Dunwich Forest, and much more; we are very rural, and the cottage reflects that. It suits many people, but obviously not all, and I'm just very sorry that it was not to your taste.

Excellent cottage in quiet surroundings, superbly positioned near the coast and wildlife reserves. Good for birdwatching and country and coastal walks.

Great cottage. Clean, well equipped and lovely wood burner which was greatly appreciated after a long walk. Located in countryside, ideal to get away from it all.

We were pleased with the location.and most things about the welcome we received and property. Unfortunatly the central heating was not working properly but due to this we did not have to pay for the extra logs for the wood burner or the extra £15 for the use of the central heating. We were given a nice box of chocolates and a note of apology. I am only 4'11" and my friend not much more so the microwave was out of our reach if we wished to use it. We would not have minded paying the extra £15 to use the central heating but feel it might be good to mention this in the accommodation information. Apart from these minor hiccups we were happy with the wood shed and would go again. Many thanks. Frances & Sheila.
