Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

The Tower, situated in the beautiful Welsh countryside, is in an ideal position for exploring the southern counties of Wales.

The Tower really does provide guests with the ultimate luxury retreat, nestling peacefully in the rolling Welsh countryside. This traditional, Pembrokeshire former Estate barn has been converted to the highest standard, and is set within the owners’ former working farm. It is only a 10-minute drive from a host of beaches, coves and rugged cliffs to discover on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. This former coach house has been lovingly restored to provide guests with an unforgettable holiday experience. Amazing attention to detail has been taken to ensure all the character and charm has been retained, including brick archways and solid oak floors. The Tower has been furnished to an exceptionally high standard and boasts a bespoke open plan kitchen and dining area, with focal mezzanine for enjoying a good book, or enjoying those breathtaking views over the countryside. You can prepare that special meal in this executive, hand made kitchen, which has a gas American wolf range top, fridges by Sub-Zero, a Belfast sink, two dishwashers and Quooker tap for instant hot water. On a summer’s day you can open the bi-fold doors which lead out onto the courtyard.
The historic city of St Davids is within easy reach, and is renowned for its magnificent 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of the Bishops Palace. The beaches of Broad Haven, Little Haven and Newgale are close by, and for a truly unforgettable experience, take a boat trip to Skomer Island, a national nature reserve, to uncover all this area has to offer. Skomer is host to nearly half the world’s population of Manx Shearwaters that nest on the island. Puffins, grey seals and guillemots are all a regular sight. For a relaxing day out, visit the beautiful walled town of Tenby, complete with cobbled streets and craft shops, or enjoy fish and chips on the harbour wall. Beach 5 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The cottage was exactly what we expected it to be and what the images showed. A lot of time, effort, love and money was put into the cottage. Met the owners, who are lovely people and very helpful. The dog was a bit scared ;D The only thing that was missing, like previous reviews have mentioned is the lack of curtains in the kitchen and front door. Especially at night you have a feel of lack of privacy. But overall one of the best cottages we have stayed in. I loved the kitchen!

Excellent cottage, done to a really high spec, we really enjoyed our stay. A really good base for all locations in Pembrokeshire. Would not hesitate to recommend to others.

There is private and secure parking when you arrive just outside the Tower. Besides the accommodation itself there is a separate storage room where there is a freezer, washing machine and ample storage for bikes, canoes and there is also a patio set that can be used in the courtyard if the weather permits. There is also a stunning courtyard. The accommodation is as good as it looks in the photos. A beautiful kitchen more than appropriately stocked for two people with all basic requirements of salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, chilli flakes, cleaning products, dishwasher tablets, tea towels etc, not to mention quality pans and crockery. There is a 4-ring gas hob, oven, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, fridge (freezer as mentioned earlier). The living room is large, modern and spacious with a large TV screen on the wall with Freeview, whilst there is no DVD player, you can twin the TV to your devices. We had a laptop with us so twinned it to the TV and watched DVD's and logged onto our own BT account. We also got to see our holiday photos in this manner. Leading off from the front room is the bedroom and shower room. A very modern, stylish and practical bathroom, with a good spacious shower, two sinks, a storage cupboard with spare loo rolls, dust pan and brush, iron and ironing board and hanging space for clothes. The towels and shower mat were of very good quality and there are spares in the lower drawer of the cabinet in the front room. Shower gel, hand wash and lotion are provided. The shower room has a connecting door to the bedroom which has spotlessly clean and comfortable bedding and ample plug sockets at each side of the bed. There is a dresser with mirror and hair dryer and seat. The property is heated throughout with underfloor heating which seems to be controllable in each room and there is a heated towel rail in the shower room. It’s obvious that the work undertaken has been done with a great deal of love and care and it already looks amazing with the large wooden gateway in the courtyard being stunning. The grounds are well kept and great, with ample safe space for kids or a dog. The owners are helpful but unobtrusive. You do need a car for here if you want to get out and about but it’s the positioning of the property that gives you the great feeling of seclusion and privacy. There is a Tesco Extra and large Morrison's Supermarket within 2-3 miles and free-range eggs are available just down the road. There is no downside to this place, it was worth every penny, my only comment, which is not a criticism would be that shutters or blinds would be good in the kitchen although I have the feeling that they may already be on the agenda if the other accommodation on site is anything to go by.

A lovely clean place, very peaceful and fantastically fitted out (although the fridge was lacking a freezer compartment). Easy drive to local beaches. We enjoyed Broad Haven with it's dog friendly beach and pub/restaurant "The Galleon Inn".

The Tower is clean, comfortable and generally well equipped. However, for us the location was what pleased us most. Set in delightful, peaceful countryside, it's very handily placed for many sections of the Pembrokeshire coastal path (car required), as well as for day trips to Narberth and Tenby (both recommended) or to Pembroke - for those wetter days or just for a change of activity. There are also many attractions for families in the vicinity, though as a couple we did not make use of these - and of course St David's with its amazing cathedral and some of the UK's finest beaches. For city folk seeking an escape from the noise and bustle of city life, it certainly hit the brief - in particular, the gloriously silent nights. The Tower's friendly owners were reassuringly close by and easy to contact, but in no way obtrusive. All in all, a very relaxing stay.
