Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

There are enormous opportunities for outdoor pursuits and activities from this location, including walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing and star gazing.

Set in picturesque countryside, this 17th-century barn has been sympathetically converted using traditional materials but providing modern amenities, and wi-fi is available if required at the owner’s property, which is adjacent. The holiday cottages (refs OSX and OSY) are set on the edges of 6 acres of uncultivated meadow which is bounded by the River Annell, a haven for wildlife and humans, and with no street-lighting in the vicinity the area is perfect for star-gazing. There are free-range hens, sometimes pigs too, which all appreciate visitors whilst the local population of buzzards and kites constantly survey the whole area. There are enormous opportunities for outdoor pursuits and activities: walking, horse riding, mountain biking and cycling – Brechfa, 5 miles; fishing, both sea and freshwater; Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mines – 3 miles; Aberglasney, National Botanical Gardens of Wales, west coast beaches and Brecon Beacons for walking and scenery are also easily reached. Llandeilo, Lampeter and Llandovery are all 11 miles away with galleries, numerous small retailers, grocery shopping and take-aways. Local shop and excellent pubs within a 5-mile radius.

The Pipistrelle (OSX) and The Threshing Barn (OSY) can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.

Impressive barn conversion, owner bombarded me with in structions, no wifi, couldn't open any Windows -and it was a lovely warm 3 days. Place could have done with a good clean as lots of dust and cobwebs. I took my 2 dogs but no safe area to let them out without walking them on a lead. Small holding next to barn had a wonderful walk next to a stream that was delightful- extremely friendly smallholder. Disappointed won't be back

For 4 nights it was great to get away from it all and spend a memorable time with the family and the threshing barn was ideal. Beautiful barn conversion with high ceilings that shows off the stone and wood in all its glory. No phone signal or wifi, but a log burner, plenty of games, a rope swing a balancing log and a very well equipped kitchen gave us all we needed. Elena and Andy are gracious hosts who despite being nearby don't intrude and gave us buckets and spades and showed the kids newborn chicks. Nice walks nearby and a day at New Quay beach was bliss. Sand, rock pools, great fish n chips and dolphins playing in the bay...without any of the crowds. Keep it secret! ;) Thanks for a wonderful stay. Would certainly come again.

Amazing beautiful cottage that just had that personal touch. It was clean and well presented with the owners ensuring there was fresh milk and eggs on our arrival. It was the perfect weekend getaway cwtching up in front of the log fire.

Wonderful cottage in great location with cosy logburner. Great to have the paddock to exercise the dogs and lovely walks, castles and pubs nearby. Thanks Andy for your friendly and helpful welcome. We will be back!

A fantastic place to stay, used it as a base to climb Pen Y Fan, fantastic facilities, lovely filed near by to walk the dog and the log burner was a massive bonus. Andy the host was fantastic and couldn't do enough for us, we even had a fantastic small world story from him as he worked with my partners grandad who's no longer with us. He tracked down an old photo for her man which both were made up about. Would definitely stay again. Fantastic service.

Spent a relaxing weekend at the Threshing Barn. The owners are friendly and charming. Accomadation itself is spacious and bright. Absolutely spotless. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms are lovely. The shower is great, very powerful. We loved the log burner, so much so we are considering replacing our one at home with something similar. We took our two large dogs which were brilliantly catered for. Great walk in grounds for doggies and large water bowl waiting for them outside. It is unusual to find somewhere so dog friendly. Extra touches throughout the barn, hand wash, cleaning products. Welcome goodies and milk. Glorious countryside on the doorstep. Thank you to Elena and Andy we would throughly recommend to everybody.
