Description

A spacious barn conversion for 14 with original roof timbers and shared access to a games room and large garden.

Formerly part of the Foremark Hall Estate and on the edge of the National Forest, these three Grade II listed properties date from 1752. They enjoy a peaceful rural holiday location with excellent local walks and great views of the Grade I listed Foremark Hall, a Georgian-Palladian country house. Foremark Threshing Barn is a beautifully converted spacious barn with a full height atrium style dining area displaying the original roof timbers and galleried landing. From here, full width French windows lead to a large garden which features a paved patio area with garden furniture and a barbecue. Repton Cottage is named after the nearby village of Repton, the historic capital of Mercia. Burdett’s Cottage is named after the Burdett family whose ancestral home was Foremark Hall next door. Featuring cosy living rooms with wood burning stoves and exposed timbers, the traditional brick cottages of Repton and Burdett’s make perfect rural holiday retreats. Shop and pub 1 mile.

We had the most wonderful. Weekend here celebrating my mums birthday. We comfortably got fifteen of us in here and it still felt super spacious! There are beautiful bit sofas in the living room and the kitchen had everything. I think the dining room with balcony overlooking was the hub of the house though, lovely spaces for us to sit and chat. We had five kids in tow who absolutely loved exploring around the property, we felt safe letting them as its so peaceful and secluded. We had a lovely walk too! The only thing that didn't get 10/10 were the showers which were scorching or freezing, your choice! But that didn't stop us having the most wonderful weekend! There are so many places nearby to explore but we didn't make it to any, we just relaxed in and around the beautiful barn!

One of the key factors when selecting was the advertised games room. We were naturally disappointed when we found the games room had been removed to set up a wedding marquee. We raised this issue with the owner and he told us he would re-organise and set up the games equipment the next day. This did not happen. On arrival we found there was no hot water. The owner came to try & fix the boiler but couldn't without having the central heating running. He told us to turn off the radiators, but we couldn't with 3 of them as the knobs were all broken. It was a very hot & humid weekend . There was only 1 cereal bowl, so we needed to keep washing it! We were also worried about the smoke alarm as the battery had been removed. This is a very nice venue & quiet location but it needs more professional management.
