Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Nestled in the grounds of the owners home, this beautifully presented apartment is perfectly situated for a romantic retreat.

The Tack Room, a single-storey apartment, was once part of the original coach house for the nearby Place House, a Grade I listed building and home of the Treffry family since the 13th century. In the grounds of the owner’s home, it has been converted to provide cosy and comfortable accommodation in a historic building in the beautiful seafaring town of Fowey.
Fowey has much to offer, from riverside cafes, galleries that showcase local artists and artisans, to tea rooms and local shops for that special memento of your stay in the town.
Fowey is home to a royal yacht club and boasts an annual royal regatta, a week-long festival on and off the water, as well as an annual cultural festival. There are many cultural links to the town from the author Daphne Du Maurier to the Kenneth Grahams Wind in the Willows loosely based on the river and using local landmarks in the plot.
The river and estuary is home to much wildlife with birds, seals and even dolphins that venture close to the shore. There are many sightseeing boats that provide the opportunity to spot them and see this dramatic coastline from a different perspective.
Kayaking trips up the river to many of the small waterside villages with their quaint churches and lively pubs are also available.
A ferry crosses the estuary at both ends of the town and can be used to complete a famous local walk that hugs the estuary, meanders through wooded valleys, explores hidden creeks and provides amazing views from the cliffs.
Cycling, golf, horse riding and walking can all be enjoyed locally as can many of the historic country houses and castles such as Lanhydrock House and Restormel Castle, the Eden Project and many other National Trust and private gardens that are in abundance in the south of Cornwall. The cottage suited our needs. It is spacious with adequate equipment for our holiday. The WiFi does need to be more robust as the signal was weak. We also thought that when we first arrived the cottage was a little musty.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Found the problem...now delightfully fresh.

Nice location, up the hill from the quay. The advantage of having parking, in a town where parking is difficult. The apartment had all amenities to hand. The wifi was very hit and miss and there was a slight foisty smell in the bedroom area. Having said that, the room was clean and tidy. Would use again if returning to Fowey.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Please come again, we found the cause of the musty smell.....all lovely now.

The tack room was quite acceptable as a holiday let. Wont go back to Fowey, because the pubs were tacky, and all the local prices were a rip off. However the town itself, and the surrounding area is very pleasant.

Beautiful place to stay, lovely, quiet and peaceful over night. The entrance is slightly tricky to find, behind black gates on a tight bend in the road (difficult to get out of when on your own but would be easy if there are two of you, one to open the gates and one to drive in).

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback and compliments which are always welcomed. The gates must be latched....as you would your own.
